As I stated up-thread, I had issues with the Flysimware Chancellor 414 (some clickspots weren't working anymore). I uninstalled the beta and the issue was fixed. Not sure whether this is related to the beta.

Thanks! I don't own the 414, and this is the only issue I've seen so far, so I might just go ahead and try it tonight.

Currently running a backup of my MSFS folder, so that I can revert easily in case anything else comes up.

I read somewhere that the C414 issue with the beta might be solved after a full reboot.  I can't check at the moment as I am out and about.

I underlined reboot as that is the proper way to refresh Windows now, as a full start-up and shut-down can actually still preserve previous states in some circumstances - not sure if people know this.

Does anyone known if the 787 has the new Trent sounds added in?

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

I took the plunge and installed the beta. The 414 seems fine. Tried a few other planes and didn't notice anything untoward. I can't get the take off right in the 787 though? I pull back on the yolk and the plane slowly lifts off nicely but then there's a stutter and it jerks up skywards.

Did a short hop from Rotterdam to Cologne in the 747 and the AP flew correctly, this is a nice improvement.

I even think the Autoland was working, although it seemed a bit wobbly. Have to experiment further with this. Could not get the second AP to turn on or is that not needed for Autoland in the 747 ?

Can't comment on VNAV, I never use that.

Thanks, and good you're pointing this out about the shutdown vs reboot, many people don't know this.

A while ago I changed the settings so that my computer performs complete start-up after shutdown instead of the fake hibernation state it uses by default, as my startup is fast enough, and I'm hibernating most of the time anyway. It's somewhere in the old Control Panel / Power Settings, in case anyone's interested.

By the way, I came to realise it can be a good thing to reboot before launching MSFS. Occasionally I experienced lots of stutters and lower-than-usual framerates in lightweight scenarios, and a reboot fixed this. Not sure if it was due to using the computer for too long without a full reboot, or just a random issue that got fixed with a reboot.

Yes, you are right.  I always do this now after having weird problems with add-ons in MSFS after updates previously, but it has been fine recently since always doing a reboot afterwards.

Also, like you say, I reboot both my home PC and work PC about once a week now, whether they have had Windows / other application updates or not.
It doesn't take long with the modern SSD's, and I seem to get a lot less problems, as I hibernate them all week as well.

There is no reason not to compare the updated 787 in MSFS and the QW 787 in P3D. Obviously, you can't compare things like performance across different simulators, but you can absolutely compare the simulation depth and feature richness of the planes, especially since WT have released updates making default planes basically payware level before. For anyone who knows the QW version and is not in the beta this is a good way to get a picture of the fidelity of the plane. So if anyone knows the QW 787 from P3D please do report how you feel the MSFS 787 compares now to the QW 787 in P3D regardless of people trying to suppress that.

So, here is my experience -

Just updated to the beta and none of my addons/purchases are there.  Everything is in my community folder or linked with addon-linker but all add-on aircraft & scenery are not visible in the sim.

Content manager shows all of my purchased addons as 'not installed'.

Any ideas?

Seems like maybe the addon index file was wiped. I'd start by unlinking/removing an addon and then re-linking/putting it back into the community folder to see if MSFS then 'remembers' the addon, i.e. adds it to the index file.

Yeah, already tried that with add-on linker and it did not change anything.

I'm going to try to re-install the ATR next from the marketplace.

Maybe backup the index file and then delete it to let MSFS build a new one on start up. I think it's in the AppData\Roaming\MSFS folder but I can't check right now.

Reinstalling Orbx scenery and purchases from the marketplace seem to work OK (although this will be a lot of work).

The community folder is broken, however.  I renamed my Community folder to Community-bak and created a new, empty one.

I then installed the FBW A320 into that folder but it did not show up in the sim.  I also installed another freeware airport into that folder and it is not in the sim.  It seems there is no linkage to the community folder at all.

Quite impressed with what Working Title managed to accomplish with the 787-10 so far. Having used the QW787 extensively on P3D, I must say that this is not far off. In fact, there are many areas where I think it is better than the QW offering, but that is mostly due to the overall improved textures, image clarity and quality provided by MSFS.

I did a small circuit flight using A/T and A/P and was happy with what I saw: Starting the 787 using checklists and FMC operation worked as expected, automated flight performed mostly correctly and the plane flew nice by hand. With Spacedesk, I could easily program the airplane using my iPad.

Some pictures from the instrumentation (might be somewhat dark due to my HDR monitor):

I will conduct some additional tests on the weekend but I am confident that, by the end of the beta, the first MSFS enthusiast-level large modern widebody will have arrived (free for premium edition users). 😃

I did a short flight KPDX/KSEA with the 787 and I liked it very much. VNAV worked perfectly, autoland (just for the fun of it) was very good, HUD is very helpful. Actually, as a person who only knows how to fly the A320 and the ATR, the 787 is much, much easier to understand than the 737. 🙂
