I'm sorting out specs for a new build. Is the 4070TI worth @ $150 more than the 4070?  Rig will be primarily used for flight simming

Thanks

At higher resolutions and graphics settings it might be worth it, depending on your expectations of course.

My understanding is that 4070 is really a remarketing of 4060 and so on.  I have the 4070ti and I couldn't be happier.

Thank you for the feedback. I am currently on 8GB VRAM. Not really having any issues, but flying just default scenery. I was daydreaming about 4070Ti for Christmas because of FG.

Isn't a resolution a parameter here? I mean, if aiming at 1440p, isn't 12GB good enough?

I have a Ultra Wide 3440x1440 monitor and that is too much for only 12 GB VRAM in DX12 at high detail add-on airports, but the card works very well in DX11, I only fly GA and get around 70 fps at ultra so I don't miss frame generation so much , but i have hopes that Asobo will optimize memory usage in DX12, because 12 GB should be more than enough when the program is optimized.

12GB VRAM might be enough for your 2560X1440 monitor, but I recommend asking someone who run the same resolution with a 4070Ti first before buying the card.

I can’t imagine in 2023 investing in a 12GB card.

I have a RTX 3060 running 2560X1440 monitor at Inibuilds (KJFK & KLAX detail setting) PMDG 737-700; ProATC, FSLTL traffic (injection on a Friday afternoon), ULTRA Clouds and the most I have ever seen is 8 - 8.5 GB used of the 12 GB.

Not saying that you'll need more but at this stage I don't think I will invest in a card just the increased VRAM given the costs. I just bought a 4070 TI, which I will be installing if I just get my connectors to match up.

Cheers.

Hopefully 12 GB is enough with your 2560x1440 monitor, let us know how it goes 👍

For those who now are going to buy a 4070, here are some videos that pertain to which 4070 to buy.

-----

Notice in this 2nd video he warns against the Ventus card (8:26 in video). This is the most complete test of these cards and the best video (he created tables summarizing tests from all over the internet. Dozens of 4070 cards)!

Another video testing 3 cheaper 3070. Her charts show MSFS, such as at 4:38

I regret I didn't go for AMD 7900 XTX instead of 4070Ti, I think that card will be a 4090 killer with FS3.
