FSLabs Concorde nearly ready for release

Featured Replies

I'm Very happy for you Ray, nearly there! Have fun old boy when it comes. I will!

Best regards.

I am waiting with my GPU upgrade for that release - want to check if my GPU will cope or shall i order a new one.

That is a kind of dedication for this project 🙂

You might think I’m mad but I’ve become so disillusioned over the time it’s taken to be developed I cannot get excited about the news. All I want is the option to buy. So few promotional videos is disappointing.

This was the aircraft that launched FSL all those years ago. They should be shouting about it from the rooftops. They don’t and that saddens me.

I'm with you, even not ever having bought their Concorde.

As I posted here a couple weeks ago, I even bought P3dv6 ( a 1 month license ) and Active Sky v6, but unfortunately they both got uninstalled after I managed to try the performance of P3dv6 on my rig and find out it was really bad compared to what I presently experience with MFS and XP12.

This was a sad conclusion, not to mention not being able to install the FSLabs A319 and 20 in P3d v6 😕

I believe FSLabs is now in a situation where I believe they should focus solely on P3D, and try to do their best to keep the loyal customers there. With Fenix announcing an upgrade with so many new and tempting features, and the offer of the IAE, A319 and A321 variants, it's really difficlut IMO for FSLabs to compete in MFS land, I believe...

They plan to release the Concorde for MFS, if I'm not wrong. Well, that could be a good option, but...

In the meanwhile I will follow the evaluation of users like you Ray when they are able to get their hands in the "new" Concorde and then decide if it's worth getting P3dv5 just to be able to use it...

Exactly, that silence and complete lack of commercial approach to product which is about to release is simply astounding and bizarre from business point of view.

@jcomm, there’s quite a learning curve but fortunately there will be options to automate many actions until you’re more comfortable.

It’s only for v5 at present but I suspect they’ll make it v6 compatible eventually.

They need income for their Airbus fleet and have to make them MSFS compatible. The Fenix lacks one critical feature. If you save a flight (or the sim crashes) none of the settings are remembered. With the FSL fleet they are. Even on the 32-bit Concorde every switch is saved and that includes the FE panel. If you don’t have the time for a full flight and need to save that is an extremely important feature.

The weather and your departure airport will always be an issue in MSFS whatever your aircraft. For Concorde many time zones from your home the weather is especially critical.

And with no ChasePlane in MSFS that will make internal navigation a nightmare.

On top of this I’m trying to finalise components for a new computer. ☹️

Ray, just wondering if P3D5 has proper time zones, as i remember for earlier P3D versions i have used external software to correct faulty logic implemented in FSX and copied to P3D.

Are you serious? Even with the Fenix competition, they would probably sell more A320 in msfs than A320 NEO in P3D. But I agree they should better focus on an A330 or even more A350.

About the lack of communication, maybe it is due to the fact that Concorde, even if loved by everybody, is really a niche aircraft. I'm not even sure it will be a best seller in msfs. it's a complicated aircraft, not suited for everybody.

The P3D market is a fraction of what it was prior to MSFS so there's really no point in pouring a ton of time into marketing Concorde until they're readying it for MSFS. I'd much rather see them push this thing out the door instead of spending time on a drawn out pre-release campaign. It's been in the works so long that everyone in the P3D community is aware of its existence.

Ah, good, we've reached the point of the thread where Ray mentions the importance of historical weather and makes false assumptions about MSFS's camera system.

Surely the Airbus with its extensive computer-controlled systems is the more complex aircraft?

Navigation with Concorde is simpler with no VNAV. MAX CLB / MAX CRUISE is different but not difficult to understand.

The FE panel is obviously more complex with 13 tanks to handle but you don’t need to concern yourself with all 13 at the same time.

And your contribution to this discussion is what exactly? I mention historical weather because it’s extremely important for this aircraft.

A few years ago I bought Time Zone Fixer. That’s compatible with v5. I don’t have v6 so can’t comment. I haven’t been aware of any issues.

Right now we are focused on getting a stable release build. Once we have that (and we are very nearly there now), expect to see screenshots, videos, and live streams happening before release.

I hope this is a solid release for P3D and that the MSFS version is not too far off in the future.  Looking forward to some of the review videos once it is released.

@Ray Proudfoot - Interesting comment on the saving of panel states for Fenix vs FSL.  In P3D I had many crashes and used this feature often, however, with hundreds of flights in the Fenix for MSFS I have yet to have the sim crash.  Maybe I am just lucky but I think its a much more stable platform and this feature is not really necessary.  If you lose 1 in a few hundred flights that is not the end of the world.
