Concorde released

Recommended Posts

I have yet to complete a flight with the Concorde or even reach cruise level.

Third time I’ve tried to complete the tutorial flight and my computer just turned off while initiating the Transonic checklists. After I’ve tried to reload a FSUIPC save, I just could not reach M1 while climbing at a satisfactory rate.

The very scripted approach of this simulation is also not a highlight for me. Missing a specific switch or not doing things exactly as planned can lead to a complete loss of situational awareness. If only I could ask my virtual colleagues what the heck is going on…

One utility that’s invaluable is ChasePlane. In Concorde-X you had 2D popup panels for the various parts of the FE panel. Those have gone now and we have a fully operational FE panel in the VC.

Being able to setup views of it makes life so much easier. A mandatory purchase for Concorde I would say.

Ahh so another purchase is necessary for this plane. Said plane is quickly becoming very expensive relative to others.

Not necessary, desirable. Many P3D users have had ChasePlane for years.

Usage appears to be linked to the HP computer. Despite the very high RAM usage and my 1080Ti working at 98% I haven’t had a single CTD.

Lol the real hp only had like like 4MB of ram max lol and ran on MS-DOS 5.0 HP 200LX - Wikipedia and virtual one is consuming gigs lol .  Are they simulating dos too? lol - just run dos emulator from dosbox (isn't it open source).

I did see the real Concorde today at the museum today.  Really tempted to get this bird but my 8GB video card just won't cut it with 4K / VR....sigh

Despite of years of development this bird is still not fully baked.

Luckily FSL is working hard about updates - micro updates are released every few days.

I think after few weeks, maybe months she will be a different beast and more people will enjoy her, including me.

For his price range i expected a bit more previous work on optimizations. For the descriptions here about ram usage and vram minimum need it looks that it was made with BMP files with 8K resolutions 😄

Why do 4 of those 5 videos look like they have been shot in high fidelity blue-o-vision??  The last one looks SO much better.

I thought it myself, but CMBelite-FR is a very credible simmer I've been following for quite a while.

Maybe his video card, just like mine, is not up to the level required for this addon (my TRX 3060 Ti is 6GB "only") and he had to significantly downgrade the graphics settings?

Maybe, but it is not a great advert for the product. I hate to use this term, but it makes the VC look like something from FS9.

A few pages back i have commented 3D modeling quality - unfortunately it is a decade back level

I have pointed out quite a few graphic mistakes/sloppiness on FSL forum, wondering if and how they will rectify those.

Does it have a 2D cockpit? Or VC only?

VC only although the 3 INSs can be shown in 2D popups. Takes some adjustment after 2D popups but with the help of ChasePlane I'll get there. This is part of the FE panel...

It does look like it's missing some ambient occlusion, some shadows, some 'depth'. At first glance, it does almost look like a 2D panel based on how flat it looks.
