P3D6 is non starter itself ... 🙂

Not for me it isn't!

It's now my go to Sim with volumetric lighting and realistic atmospheric depiction and ATC and frequent updates.I have come back to P3D after using XP12 for many years and enjoying v6.

As an update for me, I've trimmed my scenery settings (knocked down scenery density and complexity slightly) and now I've made it up to M2.00 at 50,000 feet (with a few difficulties on the way as is the case with new aircraft) without any crashes, VRAM usage peaked at around Heathrow at around the mid end of 6gb and dropped off to around 5gb.

Assuming I get into JFK without any crashes this should be very much still usable on 8gb cards, just expect to have to be careful with your settings.

As an aside I'm quite impressed with the auto crew implementation, FSL seem to have basically built-in their own version of FS2Crew in (minus the voice control).

From what I can tell.

12GB card or higher is required with 4K monitors (and probably the same with VR).  Since, I do not have the recommended hardware (I am not wasting time tweaking settings; been there done that in the past for all addons; now I just want to sim with things running smoothly) - I will have to take a pass on this addon (Iooking forward to MSFS release).

For those using on P3D, keep posting those videos on youtube.  It is a fascinating addon as far as I can tell.

I can't comment about performance, I think my 8700K and 1080Ti does not cut it, however, I am very interested to see what the difference are with this version and the previous.  Which systems and/or procedures are different and how they implemented various levels of user interaction from Pilot Flying only all the way through to running all positions yourself.  Also interested in the flight planning tool they have put in place.

My initial views on installing it. Specs in my sig.

Installing the Control Centre was straightforward. Selected two liveries for G-BOAC and then installed the aircraft. At the Scenario screen I selected Concorde and positioned at gate 421 at EGLL.

No gauges were visible. Just blank spaces where they should be. Exited and used CC to repair the installation. Launched a second time. This time new messages appeared on screen loading the DLLs and the HP 200LX software.

This time the gauges loaded and all looked fine for a C&D cockpit. I loaded the LHR-JFK plan and set the bugs for takeoff. The majority of the next hour was spent trying to work through the various checklists. You get no indication of the progress of each so it’s a frustrating experience.

Eventually I gave up and went to mow my lawns. I’ll leave this for now. The team are releasing bug fixes which should help the process.

This is a very different experience to 10 years of the 32-bit version and having to go through multiple checklists is frustrating. I’m sure it’s done for good reason to help newbies but for those of us who are used to setting up the old Concorde it’s a bit frustrating.

I did notice RAM usage hit 31Gb at one stage. Wow! Never seen it that high before. But parked at the stand, fps stood up reasonably well at 25-30 with around 60 Ai at Heathrow.

I’m sure things will get better. Today was quite frustrating.

Cockpit has a number of holes and gaps through which u can see the sky, so that part is also to be corrected.

Are you reporting these on the FSL forum together with screenshots?

Posting here is unlikely to have any effect.

I hit 31+GB on load and then P3D crashed. I wonder if this is transient on startup and if it will get optimized away later.

What percentage of users have 64GB of RAM and 12GB of VRAM?

Cheers

I very much doubt it. The team are extremely busy sorting some issues out.

It didn’t for me and on subsequent loads it dropped to around 15Gb. Despite the high RAM / VRAM usage it didn’t crash once.

Not so lucky on my end. Just loading the Virtual Crew System ate 16GB, it loaded the cockpit and then as it was processing the runways it crashed.

Not sure how big your swap file is - maybe giving things a few gigs of virtual memory will help.

Cheers

@Luke, I wasn’t planning to install Concorde on my current PC as I’m negotiating a deal for a new PC. But curiosity got the better of me. I have yet to move from 421 or even start engines. I have no idea of the swap file size other than leaving Windows to manage it itself.

After some trial and error I noticed that my page file size was too small - after I enlarged the file - at least it works without crashing !
Fslabs definitely needs to improve the memory management !

Agreed. I have 32GB of physical RAM and a 5GB swap file. Consuming all that is madness.

Cheers!

Lol, if I remember correctly - the 32bit version would OOM out if your monitor resolution was higher (I could be wrong, I am recalling from memory).  And now 32gb of RAM is being consumed lol.

I will have to wait for MSFS version, I really wanted to experience the Concorde in p3d but oh well.
