September 14, 20232 yr I haven't bought it yet, but have watched some Youtube videos of gameplay. First, it was just released this month and is bound to have some bugs. I'm sure a patch will be out to fix many of them. I am not impressed with the overly simplistic orbit, landing, and takeoff phases. The cut screen sequences are boring and inadequate. I would like to be able to establish orbit upon arrival, then actually activate a landing sequence where the ship descends through the atmosphere and lands while I'm in the cockpit. Same with takeoff where one would go through a takeoff phase through the atmosphere to orbit. This could all be automated, but just having these activities simulated would add an extra touch of realism to the game. Otherwise it reminds me of Fallout and Oblivion/Skyrim set in a futuristic world. I'm sure that modders will get hold of this and make more interesting planets and stuff, and maybe even add the landing and takeoff phases like I described. September 15, 20232 yr 10:08 "look at the fps, it's exactly the same. No matter what we change or what we do the fps is exactly the same". 6 minutes and following, into the original post video, the host isn't understanding one thing particular to Starfield. Changing display settings will not change fps or smoothness much until you exit the room and enter another one. Only then will the scenery reload and begin to use your new settings. And then you will see the changes. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. September 16, 20232 yr It’s a fun game, I love the fallout series so it’s nice to get something in a similar style. I do hope some further optimization is coming though…I struggle to maintain 60fps at 4K on ultra with a 4080. I can’t imagine a game like this is as cpu bound as MSFS. I played a little Starfield on a friend's Xbox and 86 inch TV last week, sitting in front of the big TV made it a quite spectactular time and the game certainly played well enough on the XBox (current release XBox). Made me think about the time I played fallout 3 quite some time ago, so I reinstalled fallout 3 on my Ryzen 5800x and 3080 Ti along with a host of nexus mods and it's fantastic, plays much better than I remember it all those years ago adn the mods hugely expand the look / feel and playability. New hardware makes all the difference, even installed Crysis with updated textures and additional mods including an AI mod that makes it very much harder due to the AI NPCs now working together to do things like flanking manovers. Cheers Ryzen 5800X clocked to 4.7 Ghz (SMT off), 32 GB ram, Samsung 1 x 1 TB NVMe 970, 2 x 1 TB SSD 850 Pro raided, Asus Tuf 3080Ti P3D 4.5.14, Orbx Global, Vector and more, lotsa planes too.
