Yesterday, on a quick test flight with my newly installed LG Ultragear monitor, I decided to take a quick flight from Bristol down to Exeter in the UK, only 15 minutes. This was mainly to assess Gsync and the higher refresh rates that I had not previously experienced, which incidentally, makes a huge difference! Take off worked fine and the flight down to Exeter went without any problem, then I got that ridiculous 'connection lost' error message, then it was replaced with, 'connection restored.' This has peed me off big time, as I have now paid for a VPN, wrongly assuming that the issue lay at the feet of my ISP using throttling tactics on my connection, this is clearly not the case and the issue obviously lays directly at the feet of Asobo.  I got those same messages about three times, after which I continued with my flight. When I got to within about 20 miles of Exeter the ground terrain  became visually unuseable, a complete and uttter mess! I had never experienced the terrain look so blurry, I could hardly make out any features whatsoever. There was also deep caverns running across the terrain, following the aircraft. This was all happening at about 3000ft as I was flying west towards the runway. I feel stupid now, as I should have recorded what to me must now be the most outrageous issue in MSFS!  I understand Asobo have acknowledged the issue, but that doesn't help those who are experiencing the problem. Asobo should explain to their customers what they're doing about it. This is unacceptable. Sorry for the rant, but for me, this is happening most of the time now and makes the sim hardly worth using.

personally, no need to muck around with VPNs,

completely flyable actually here, (on quality 40Mbps connection)

I don't want to play the devil's advocate but here are few remarks

- the loss of connection for a few seconds is indeed a  PITA  and seems to mostly come, not from Asobo (except for programming the message) but from the Microsoft Azure servers.  Mostly, as it may come from the client connection too (don't ask me why I know this). You need a link from your home to your ISP before reaching he VPN  and the issue could be at that stage, 

- I have it from time to time but it has never been followed by any blurriness except for once and certainly not the stalking caverns following the aircraft 😄

 - you do not link to MSFS the normal way. The use of a VPN which IMO is an useless placebo (I didn't say voodoo) to help  correct MSFS connection instability anyway, can bring obnoxious side effects.  

 - Last thing, your new install is at the same resolution than before ?

I work in the Telecoms industry for a major UK player as a Network Analyst - previously I worked in IT for 25 years.

Hi Dominique, sure. Nothing has changed. The issue is just getting worse.

If things are getting worse, knowing that to my knowledge you are the only one to report such an awful degradation of the terrain rendition after the ON/OFF connection message, I would try the SOP  ;  a non-VPN connection, an empty Community folder and a default aircraft . Just to be sure.

Well to be fair Domique, I have seen many reports of similar issues. re the VPN, I installed the VPN because of the issue in the first place! However, I will try further testing and report back

The unstable connection is one thing which bothers us all (I hate when it happens on a short final 😝). The sudden loss of bandwidth on biblical proportions is another, less frequent.

Can you expand?

It's an OUTRAGE I say! STOP everything! Person can't see imagery!

I very occasionly get some disconnects, but it's a 1 in a 100 flight style thing.

I've just reflown the exact flight from yesterday, same route, same conditions and it was perfect. If there was a problem at my end then it would have repeated itself. Tomorrow maybe completely different, ther's no way of knowing.

you won't believe it but that's exactly what fixed my sudden inexplicable ultra low fps of constant 30 fps in the middle of nowhere in the C172 where I normally see 90 fps, (considering my RTX 4090/AMD 7850x3D). I often do not completely shut my pc down but only let it go to sleep mode overnight for several days in a row. this time I gave it a complete cold start, et voila, we are back in 3 digits fps land.

Not if your ISP had  hiccups yesterday. Mine has.
