I often do not completely shut my pc down but only let it go to sleep mode overnight for several days in a row. this time I gave it a complete cold start, et voila, we are back in 3 digits fps land. Even shutting it down won’t do the trick. You gotta restart. Shutting it down is like a kinda sleep mode, whereas restart, well as the name implies literally restarts everything.

Yes, it is amazing how many people don't realise this. Microsoft should publicise it a bit more. I have it all the time at my place of work. I say "have you rebooted?", and they say "yes!". I say "are you sure?", and they say "yes, even better... I shut it down and then completely restarted!" They think it wipes when the power goes off, and they think it doesn't wipe properly in a reboot when the power stays on, so I do understand their logic, but it is the other way around of course. The VPN is better than nothing in that one particular use case. However, I find that MSFS and VPNs tend not to play nicely together.
