Addon runway lights

Featured Replies

Xplane road traffic and night lightning is way ahead of MSFS. And the two combined produce stunning results at night on short final over a motorway.

Well, to be honest every aspect of MSFS graphics is tailored in order to look like through camera lens in theory: overexposed exterior when you look inside the cockpit, bloom, lens flare, depth of field... except night flying.

Personally I like the X-Plane video posted very much, even though it uses a streetlights addon and Reshade FX.

I agree with that. Most of the things you mentioned can (luckily) be turned off and for the overexposed lighting i am using Nvidia filters. So i have found a quite workable sweetspot by now.

Let's hope people can stay on topic and stop trying to derail this thread too with that MSFS vs X-Plane word not allowed again. This is about a specific MSFS addon. Thanks.

Lets not hope for that at all. Lets hope adults can engage in civilised debate about the pro's and con's of each without resorting to playground behaviour. Forums are about debate and opinion.

Wrong, this thread is about debating this addon. Take your war somewhere else.

In my case, and at daylight, PAPI and VASI are only visible at quite short distance, which I think it is not what happens in reality.-

Is there a way to fix that  ?

Exactly, why do a few  take every opportunity they can to go off the topic of the thread and steer into in a debate about which sim is better.? A real PIA.,

Do you see the glow in the PAPI at night?

I agree, the Papi lights need a bit more power so they look like real life.

Do you have the glow on the PAPI? I wonder why no one answers this question except El Diablito. I would like to know if I have an issue or not.

Your claim might have more substance if you posted two screenshots at the same location for XP and MSFS. People could then make up their own minds.

A screenshot wouldn’t do it justice, it’s a fluid moving scene. And it depends if someone’s viewing said screenshots on a mobile screen, laptop, tv etc… A video would be more appropriate of which I have zero time to make.

I don’t have a war. Whatever that’s supposed to mean. You’re the one coming out with stupid comments now 🤷🏻‍♂️
It’s a debate about a light addon, of which I have my opinion about night lights. In a forum designed for debate.

generally speaking agreed. I was referring to a simple MSFS feature that this utility is trying to fix, not MSFS vs.Xanadu as a whole. and took the liberty to extend the thread slightly: runway, taxiway, night lights in general. otherwise we would have to have millions of new separate threads for each and every single extra word that's not 100% limited to a specific issue. the thread title is: "addon runway lights" after all. you asked for opinions in your opening and I gave my opinion: the tool is ok but there is room for improvement for future MSFS versions, and to illustrate what I meant and that it has already been done I included a screenshot because "a picture is worth 1.000 words". we did the same in the recent "Potential improvements for sky colors" which got extended where I showed an xplane sunset, and Biology referred to x-plane and how he implemented ARPC for x-plane. should he have to remove all references to x-plane then? I don't think so.

Time for the SU14 beta pub. 😀

The thing is for me there is no red glow. Can you confirm you see the red glow on the PAPI lights?

I'm actually using the payware runway lights from FLYT simulations, not the mod from flightsim.to being discussed , but no, I don't see any red glow cast onto the ground either.

Taxying onto the runway to line up is probably the only time you'd notice this in real life if you were specifically looking for it.

On landing by the time you're near enough to spot any light being thrown onto the ground from the PAPIs they just be an after thought passing through your peripheral vision ,so I'm not too worried about it personally.
