It is a good thing for new users until they are about to navigate around the community. Its a good start to get them going and for the developers to get some early exposure.

It's not just that, it's a completely new eco-system/uses infrastructure that they are building called "Laminar Identity", they are also hinting for other stuff that'll rely on it.

Austin for example has been talking for a while about "unifying" XP-mobile with desktop for a massive multiplayer & networking X-Plane-Verse.

I would not be surprised if in the future, XP-mobile (or other non PC devices) will be for X-Plane PC what MSFS for Xbox does for MSFS PC, who knows, maybe even for 3rd parties as well.

That's almost certainly the "grand plan" but they are a way off with several steps to complete first.

One of the related things I also pointed out last weekend that seemed to shock everyone I mentioned it to was:

Well we know that Vulkan for mobile is WIP, also, looking at the format specs for what appears to be the foundation that XP next gen scenery will rely on, they appear to support and scale to mobile as well.

Without competition and choice the sim market isn't going to find new and interesting ways to expand and develop into fresh areas so I'm really pleased that it seems like at least some of the new people MSFS have brought into this hobby have decided to try a sim that concentrates on alternatives parts of the experience.

I've created a google drive folder with the zip file containing all the documents.  Let me know if the link doesn't work.  They are not NDA'ed or private in any way, so feel free to share and discuss.

@GoranM

Many thanks! It worked now with that Google-Drive-Link 🙂👍

Very interesting to go through all these slides.

I went through all slides and am blown away! Wuaw, so many cool things coming. The one i am the more excited about is the 3D-weather-radar with tilt and even the radar-beam. And the possibility to see where the lightnings bolts are. That is way ahead of anything else in desktop-sims! What exciting times 🙏

So much I could say, but I'll just say it's great to see so much being done, that eclipses the other platforms, by such a small team of ultra-talented people.  Austin wasn't kidding when he said he was targeting the "professional" market.

What you see in those slides has certainly taken many in the 3rd party community by surprise.  It's like we've gone from the lobby to the penthouse in one move.

@GoranM Absolutely. I never had expected them being that professional in their communication and roadmap.

And at the same time let’s also not forget the 777v2 that should come in a few weeks and aiming for being ultra-realistic and being used as a real-pilot-training as well (knowing Ramzzess has been type-rated on it only to make it as real as possible) and I guess it could already have an implementation of the new Wx-radar if we got lucky 😊

Yeah, truly amazing how much is going on on Laminar’s side right now!

@GoranM

Lots of good behind the scene stuff in the slides that I have not seen since some of the presentation that LR conducted in the past conference. Thank you for sharing this information that I think will be helpful on what we can look forward to, every exciting things!!!

What I find interesting as well is the FSElite presentation that looks encouraging if some marketing ideal's for presenting the latest and greatest addon aircraft and scenery are practice. Very good guild lines that I think are helpful as well.

Hopefully we will see better articles and updates on X plane addon at that site.
