67.76 GB MSFS Update ?

Just seen it when I started MSFS 1.36.2 ?

I did not opt to install it yet.

The last mandatory update a couple day ago was only 28mb, unless you are on the beta and have a SU15 beta to install.

Thanks for the reply.

I got the last small mandatory update and have used MSFS ok since then.

I just started MSFS on my 2nd PC and all ok.

However my primary PC is still showing the large mandatory update.

Note: I am not on the Beta team.

Are you sure its pointing to your current install and not trying to reinstall?

Thanks for the follow up reply.

I am not sure.

My thought for a 67 GB Update would be a full install. Is that correct?

I forgot what a full install was.

Are you talking about the path that comes up on the Update screen?

That one starts with C:\Users\myname\appdata\local\packages\microsoft.flightsim  ...etc

When I check my Library (check for updates) it says up to date for MSFS.

I thought MSFS was supposed to check for a path.

I should have a default install.

What is the correct path?

e.g. I have:

D:WpSystem\S-1-5-21-3919830846-3555096354-194503561-1001\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages

Community and Official folders inside.

Couple days ago I got the Dunes helo update without checking or changing any path.

I did not do the Update yet on my primary PC.

As far as I can see looking at folder contents I should not need a 67GB Update.

Anyway, I am going to go ahead with the Update and see what happens.

At this point it looks like it will be a Deluxe package all over again.

Thanks to all ya all for your previous help.
Much appreciated.

The Update was actually 45.1GB when it started.
[383 of 383] to process (download / install).

It took 30 Minutes.
Download speeds up to 280 mbits/sec.

Looks like all the aircraft, liveries, tutorials, challanges etc I had previously removed over previous months via the Content Manager got reinstalled.

First run of MSFS (still version 1.36.2) looks like all my settings and saved flights/situations were all ok.

After the Update, MSFS started automatically.
The splash screen showed the Dunes Helo ... so the last update was still there.

The last flight before the update I was using the Hjet and it was still selected after the update. All ok there.
I exited, rebooted PC.

My C drive gained 6GB of free space.
My D drive lost 64GB of free space.

So, looks like 58GB of unwanted was reinstalled (Basic + Deluxe).

After the Update I checked the Content Manager and there were no further Updates pending.

Had you deleted a bunch of content previously?

Hello Bert,

Since purchasing (Sept 2020) MSFS Premium Deluxe I have selected items for Deletion whenever checking my Content Manager.

I now have MSFS Premium Deluxe on a second PC as well.
I have also been deleting via the Content Manager on that PC.
So far no forced Update there.

I do not know what triggered MSFS to force a huge Mandatory Update on my primary PC.

During the download I could see that all the aircraft, liveries, tutorials, challenges etc I had previously removed over previous months/years via the Content Manager got reinstalled.

So, I now again have 45GB of aircraft, liveries, tutorials, challenges etc I do not want and would never use.

Why does this happen?

Note:
I searching the internet / MSFS forums I seen other cases of large updates.

Since you have two PC's, most probably you have different content installed on both (for you to check/say), and when starting up the second PC it asks for installation of the Content that is installed on one of the two and missing on the another one. Why that happens I don't know, but it ocurred to me once with a single bespoke airport.

Cheers, Ed

Hello Ed,

I have MSFS2020 Premium Deluxe installed on two PC’s.
Each PC has different hardware (yokes/throttles etc).
Each PC started out with the same MSFS2020 Premium Deluxe install.
Each MSFS2020 now has different software selections in the Content Manager as I have installed new or deleted unwanted.

From the internet I see the default MSFS2020 install is about 200GB (on the drive).

My primary PC (after the last big unwanted Update) per the Content Manage has:
Space used 155GB
Installed 467
Not installed 24

My secondary PC has:
Space used 67GB
Installed 115
Not installed 359

When I start MSFS on either PC it starts with the last aircraft I used. I will have to check on other
settings / options / selections that may be unique to each setup.

I submitted a Ticket to MSFS2020 ZenDesk Support to find out what caused this problem.

The conclusion from support was:
“It sounds like this was just a momentary hiccup that occurred.”

This update was the World Hub scenery fixes update from what I gather.
