It would involve more quesswork, but should still help with FPS, right? If the LOD is at the minimum on the ground and gradually goes up, and cloud level changes if FPS dip below MR level, it sounds plausible, right? Or I shouldn't switch on anything related to FPS there are all, just the altitude-dependent changes? Yes the sister app, DynamicLOD_ResetEdition, will likely do what you want as long as you set realistic LODs per altitude band. As you suggest, setting the FPS Adaption target FPS to the same value as your MR target, should have you maintaining your MR target more often than without the app. 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11
March 9, 20242 yr Thanks you @Reset XPDR (I'm sure that's not your real name!) - for making all this gobschmakingly good performance possible. I'm having a blast with your app, (still in non-expert mode, forsaking my embarrassingly high settings for a smooth, stutter-free experience), descending towards the lush sub-tropical rainforests of Coffs Harbour which I once upon a time called home for 1.5 years of my life. Oh - I'm afraid the departure from FlyTampa's YSSY w/ AIG AI traffic @ 50% load was smooth as a word not allowed! Below are two ultra-hi-res captures (using iPhone (some new version after 2022 lol)) - as the feeble Xbox game bar is no match for restricted to a stuttery 60 fps. Be sure to click the links and crank up the volume (and don't forget to hook up your gold-plated 2000$ audio-cables) for some premium, audiophile, truly immersive, hi-res Aussie and Norsemen music! You got that @Steve Dra? Of course I couldn’t post this in 5K on YT as the added music infringes on their (precious) guidelines. How on earth does some folks post 1 hr+ movie reactions? Oh, and please smash that like button & consider subscribing! It would really help with my channel growth! https://imgur.com/yir9IIe https://imgur.com/0Cu8Zmf Disclosure: I'm truly sorry for not keeping up with this thread. Too busy flying! March 9, 20242 yr Author New AutoFPS Test Version 09Mar240410Z available here. Have at it! Changes are: Added new option for auto target FPS functionality, primarily intended for non-expert mode but may work in expert mode too. When checked, a target FPS will automatically be calculated only when you are on the ground and stationary, following any initial FPS settling. To do so, the app will change to TLOD Min, remove any cloud quality reduction and then sample and average your FPS over the next 10 second period. It will then set your target FPS to 95% of this (slightly lower than average so that cloud quality reduction doesn't immediately trigger). This auto target FPS will remain fixed until you have ascended above default TLOD Min priority AGL (nominally 2667 ft with a default TLOD of 100) and then landed again and stopped, whereby it will re-calibrate the auto target FPS for your new location. If you uncheck Auto Target FPS at any time or move your aircraft while auto target FPS is calibrating, your target FPS will change back to your stored target FPS for your current graphics mode until you either recheck auto Target FPS, and are not in the air or moving, or stop moving long enough for the calibration process to complete respectively. If you want a quick recalibration of auto target FPS, make sure you are on the ground and stationary and just uncheck then recheck Auto Target FPS and the calibration process will be redone. The app log now has additional log entries associated with auto target FPS states. Removed log in test mode option from test mode and made test mode to always log extra test data. I'm just trying to figure out if this program can help me and what the correct settings would be for my setup. Yes, I'm acknowledging that "warned that MR can break", it's not like you promised it must work 🙂But it doesn't say that it can't work with MR, so I'm trying to make it work if that is possible. The problem is two-fold: 1. It's a fact that letting FPS go lower than half of the refrash rate brakes MR. The goal is to try and manage the LOD/clouds so it doesn't happen, or catch it the moment it does. Some people seem to be more sensitive to judder than others and while many are fine without MR, many others (like me) can't live without it as it's just not smooth. 5% is something that was mentioned here. I'm aiming for minimal workable reduction. It looks to me that setting a target FPS of 10% less, i.e. 36 wouldn't work, because my system in KJFK in PMDG737 (oribably worst case scenario) is doing 37FPS, so it would be "fine" according to the Auto FPS software, while it's a horrible experience in VR. If it would just keep it at 36 it's not a solution. Ideally I'd set 40FPS, but the readme says that it needs some overhead, and it makes sense. But I want as small an overhead as possible, as even 39FPS is not desireable and should be avoided as soon as it occures. 2. How would it know what level to keep the LOD at, because it won't ever go above 40FPS with MR? MSFS is so fidgety and unreliable that it's very difficult to do a clean test - if MR brakes with Auto FPS it would certainly brake without it. That's why I'm asking questions on what settings would make sense with MR. Is it not supposed to work with MR at all and I shouldn't even try? My Quest3 is using VD 80HZ/120HZ resolution Godlike with SSW activated (on my 3080ti). I limit the FPS to 80 with RTSS and set the AutoFPS target FPS to 76. The helmet displays a steady 80FPS and only very rarely lags, everything is smooth and no stutter. AutoFPS and DynamicLOD perform so well on my system that I rarely turn on my 4090 now. Thanks to XPDR's enthusiastic contribution to the community. the simulation system is less stressful, I am grateful for his assistance in every flight. Edited March 9, 20242 yr by kcjc073
March 9, 20242 yr Author I just want to announce that, as much fun as I have had putting AutoFPS and DynamicLOD_ResetEdition together, it has been very taxing on me and now that both apps will be at a mature enough stage I am planning on stepping down from anything other than urgent bug fixes to both apps after this next AutoFPS release. Yes, I know I said I would look at other features users have been requesting, but most of these are nice to haves and will not make a notable difference to the majority of users that these apps are targeted at. If anyone is really keen, they can fork my repos at github and make the next generation of dynamic settings mods themselves, but very soon I will be retiring back to the obscurity from where I came. March 9, 20242 yr Author I found a minor bug in the new test version (target FPS display shows auto if you change any app setting in flight, despite it still using the previously locked auto target FPS so no actual effect on your flight other than wrong info on the app), so I'm not done quite yet. 😁 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11

March 9, 20242 yr Author New AutoFPS Test Version 09Mar241130Z available here. I'd appreciate ANY feedback on the new Auto Target FPS functionality, good or bad. Fixed target FPS display incorrectly showing auto if you change any app setting in flight, despite it still using the previously locked auto target FPS correctly. Added logic to prevent auto target FPS being set in flight, as conditions are too variable here, and to have the previous auto target FPS be restored correctly if it was attempted. Added logic to ensure if auto target FPS isn't properly calibrated before leaving the ground that the default target FPS for the current graphics mode will be used. Many Bothans died getting this to work properly. Made status line items more concise. TLOD Min nomenclature changed to show the actual TLOD Min value being prioritised and + means extra TLOD Min is active. Cleaned up test logging to only log sim values on change of one of those values. 9800X3D | 4090 | 64GB | 2+1TB NVME | 2TB SSD | 2TB HDD | 85/50/43” TVs | Quest 3 | DOF H3 Motion Rig | Buttkicker | T.16000M Flight Kit MSFS @ 4K Ultra DLSS Performance FG 80 FPS | VR VDXR Godlike 80Hz SSW | MSFS VR DLSS Quality, Ultra Preset - Windows 11 Acer Nitro 5 | i5-11400H | RTX 3060 6 GB | 32GB DDR4 | 15.6" FHD IPS 144Hz | 2 x 512 GB SSD | Windows 11

March 9, 20242 yr Just an observation. About every 5-7 flights or so, on approach, when down around 200 feet AGL, the video would turn into a slide show for a few seconds. Sometimes it would really make it hard to flare at the proper time, because nothing was moving. Since I started using Auto FPS App, this issue has totally disappeared. I can go into major airports like KORD, or KJFK, or KATL flying the Fenix A 320 , and everything runs as smooth as silk. I am delighted with this app.
