July 15, 20241 yr Yeah, I have installed all the lasted dlss/dll files etc as well as the autoFPS app. I still haven't learned my lesson and often think I should try expert settings again. Haha. Best app for MSFS hands down. August 1, 20241 yr Hi guys, especially @Reset XPDR: when using MSFS yesterday I suddenly noticed that using AutoFPS, my ground textures turn utterly ugly when TLOD below anything than 200. Is this new? I somehow never realized this and I do not know if every scenery is affected, but FSDT LSZH and Simwings EDDH for sure are. It looks like anisotropic filtering is affected, as it looks exactly the same. Here are two screenshots illustrating this: Above picture shows the sim before firing up AutoFPS using TLOD 50 on ground. Concentrate on the red and yellow ground markings. Now, as soon as I fire up AutoFPS and it is fully established, ground textures look like this: As you can see, the ground textures become fully blurred already just some meters away from the plane. This looks really bad, it is also clearly visible from the VC when taxiing around, at about 50-100m in Front of the plane the ground textures turn sharp, everything outside this little box is blurry. As soon as I turn off AutoFPS and TLOD recovers to 200, it is again as in the first screenshot. Is this the expected behaviour or is something wrong on my end? As I wrote, this somehow never draw attention to me in earlier versions or some weeks ago (might be that I did not recognize it, which would be somehow strange). TLOD200 TLOD50 It's a difficult tradeoff - run higher TLOD and no traffic or low TLOD with traffic and blurry textures. I usually use TLOD50 when flying into busy hubs in airliners. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

I am seeing that behavior here too. Well, it seems just be directly proportional to the TLOD setting. With TLOD 100, the gate designators e.g. E42, are again crisp and clear, just some feet behind it gets blurry, with TLOD 150, it takes another leap and with my default TLOD 200, it looks finally ok. Not sure if I can live with this tradeoff, as it ruins the look of many ground textures on many airports. August 1, 20241 yr All Auto FPS does is change the TLOD so the effect would be the same if you just set TLOD in MSFS to 50, with no Auto FPS. That's just the way MSFS looks with TLOD 50.
August 1, 20241 yr Yeah, it keeps my TLOD at 28 on the ground so all of it looks crummy but oh well. I don't notice it until I actively look for issues. Otherwise, I am happy that my old system can still feel decent for a while before 2024 comes out (hopefully it can work there as well with some fixes). Though, it would be nice to have a TLOD a little higher so new york or other larger hubs dont look like wastelands haha 7800+4090+64ram Just Flight RJ, 146 and F28, Piper Arrows ---A2A Aerostar and Comanche---Black Square Starship, Duke(s), TBM, Bonanza/BaronV2, KingAir---FSReborn FSR500---COWS Da42---FX P180, HJet & VJet---FlySimWare Chancellor and LearJet---FlightSimStudio EMB175 &P2006T---Fenix 320---PMDG DC6, 737(700+900), 777---C22J---Milviz Cessna 310 & Porter---SimWorksStudios Kodiak, PC12, Zenith & RV14---BigRadials Goose---IndiaFoxEcho MB3339+F35.

I'm also wondering if anisotropic filtering plays a role. I find that when I set it to 16x in NCP and off in the sim, the ground textures look better. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

Maybe upping the base TLOD would help, but that may defeat the purpose of using the tool. AMD 9950X3D | 64 GB RAM | RTX 5090 FMR: 747 FO, 757/767 CAPT, 737 Check Airman Current 777 CAPT

I'll probably still continue to use AutoFPS (use it on every flight), as I don't want to change TLOD manually during the flight. Also, there's no way I can use TLOD e.g. 200 at major 3rd party hubs. When flying airliners, I set TLOD 50 below 1000ft and max TLOD 400. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
August 2, 20241 yr Early on in the development of the app, Reset had to set it to not alter the TLOD while on the ground, because it would trigger blurry textures. Maybe once the DX12 blurry texture bug was resolved, Reset allowed the TLOD to change while on the ground, and this might now be causing excess blurring? I have actually stopped using the app on a regular basis because I find that the frequent changing of TLOD yields more stutters than simply setting a TLOD of 200. I might try it again to see if that's still the case, as I made that decision shortly after the most recent UK World Update.
