Which is your favorite Aircraft in VR?

My absolute favorite is SWS‘s Pilatus PC-12, equipped with the TDS GTN750xi.

I agree - flying a helicopter it is so nice to be able to look around everywhere as you approach the landing site.

Totally agree.  I’m not at all into flying heli’s in 2D….but in VR it’s a totally different & very enjoyable experience (with good pedals for controlling yaw)😀.  I bought the Cowan 500, & a few minutes later was landing on the BofA tower helipad in downtown LA.  Absolutely breathtaking!

9800x3d, ASUS TUF x870, 64GB G.Skill DDR5, MSI Ventus 4080, HP Reverb G2 VR, FlyVirtual.net, Private Pilot SEL rating, subLogic FlightSim 1983 & every release since

The children got a VR Meta Quest 3 headset for Christmas so I borrowed it for an hour to try VR out........well bloodyhell.......it blew me away and I havent flown on using a monotor since....what a load of rubbish it is flying using a monitor....its rubbish. ... I keep taking the headset off the children and I cant keep doing that now can I so I bought another one...ya can stick the monitor up ya Jacksy! 😀

The planes what float my boat in VR are both Airbuses, PMDG 737 and TBM850......absoluteley incredible and very very immersive indeed....LOVE IT!👍

I have the Quest 3 (Mixed/Augmented Reality capability).  Does anyone know if there is an aircraft written to take advantage of the hand / finger capability - for turning knobs and flipping switches?  I'm told there is, I the person couldn't remember which ones.

Beech35? which one?

brds

It's in the marketplace under "Famous Flyer III: Beechcraft Bonanza V35"

Ryzen 7 7800X3D/B650 X AX | 5090 | 32gig | Win10 | Pimax Crystal Light

All of the steam gauge analogue panel planes.

None of the glass panel planes.

But this is true in 2D for same reason, only it's less of an issue in 2D. In the sim, steam gauges are much easier to read swiftly when you scan. 2D or 3D.

The issue: our monitors give a tiny image compared to real life.

Those of you with 45" TV's at 4k can afford to gloat because you have risen above this issue. It's way more like real life for you all. Also, if you let the electronics do the flying, instead of yourself, then you don't have to pay so close an attention so often.

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

obviously we all have our personal favorites. but as a general rule that applies to VR in general: visual quality, i.e great modelling and texturing is a must for me because in VR you sit much closer to the instruments and you will discover imperfections that you wouldn't notice otherwise as much in 2D. the same applies to the outside of any aircraft since I love preflights and walk arounds of my favorite aircraft.  as such Carenado's aircraft come in first place for me as far as visual quality is concerned. the Diamond DA42 from COWS is also excellent for VR and VFR flying because of its unobstructed views outside.

AMD 7800X3D, Windows 11, Gigabyte X670 AORUS Elite AX Motherboard, 64GB DDR5 G.SKILL Trident Z5 NEO RGB (AMD Expo), RTX 4090,  Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 2 TB PCIe 4.0, Samsung 980 PRO M.2 NVMe SSD 1 TB PCIe 4.0, 4K resolution 50" TV @60Hz, VR: Pimax Crystal Light + HP Reverb G2 @ 90 Hz, Honeycomb Bravo Throttle Quadrant, be quiet 1000W PSU, Noctua NH-U12S chromax.black air cooler.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

I've never tried VR, but I'm very keen to try, one aircraft I can imagine would be cool in VR would have to be the FSReborn Sting S4 right?

I have that aircraft and with that bubble canopy, you are right, its great to fly it around the mountains, because in 2D you don't get the sense of vertigo you get in VR. Additionally, when I flew it in 2D, the eyepoint seemed too high but in 3D it just makes sense it being that high.

Anything in VR improves the experience 10 fold.

Military jets are good as you feel the cramped cockpit, the IFE F35 also simulates the helmet mounted display.

Theres a freeware Bronco which is great in VR, and I should also mention flying a helicopter in VR is an amazing experience, you really get a sense of height as you lift off.

I didn't know about a Bronco freeware. I loved that plane for its awesome cockpit view in P3D, so I must try it in MSFS VR, thank you!

The aircraft that have been enhanced most by VR for me are those with the most '3D' cockpits...e.g. the Aerosoft Catalina (which was weird in 2D but suddenly made sense in VR), the Flight Replicas Halifax (flying Steam engine) and the Aeroplane Heaven HE-111.
It was like having my own museum.

All were brilliant (but flawed) as MSFS imports until Asobo broke imports in VR 😞

Even today there aren't many cockpits visually as good as eg the Milviz Phantom converted to MSFS native, which does work in VR.

Yes, I agree 100%, its like being at freaking museum! All that's missing is that old cabin smell lol.

I like to fly my little Iris PC-21. Cockpit just feels great in VR.

Now that we can use Navigraph with the TDS GTNXi, I'm considering this plane. I'm looking for a good cross-country option with an advanced autopilot. Thanks!

You could ask as well: which is your favorite real aircraft, in which you'd like to sit in the cockpit?

Because taking a seat in the cockpit of any aircraft in VR is like taking a seat in the real aircraft.

Exactly!!!

Getting right to the point without explanations (in no particular order)🧐:

1. Default Longitude

2. BlackSquare Baron, A36, KingAir

3. PMDG 737 series

4. Fenix A320

5. Default F/A-18 - The outdated mod with weapons displayed is what's needed plus the MilTech's Super Carrier Pro add-on

6. IndiaFoxtEcho F35, JF's F-16/15, IndiaFoxtEcho F-14

7. JF Piper PA-28 Turbo

8. FSR 500 Turbo

9. FSW C414

10. Cirrus Jet/Handa Jet, Default WT Cirrus SR-22 G6

11. MilViz Corsair, Flying Iron Spitfire

12. Most all Carenado Birds

Wow, there's actually too many to mention them all (great job to our developers)...😳

There are some misses that are actually better in 2D than VR (short list off the top of my head😞:

1. Carenado V-Tail Bonanza

2. COW DA-42

Best locations for VR flying:

1. US - Western States/Florida/Hawaii

2. Western Canada

3. Australia - Hit and miss in VR but overall great in 2D

4. New Zealand

Oh man, this a great list, thanks for this feedback!!!

I'm partial to any Helicopter in VR. The view outside, the ability to fly low and get into any spot makes them my prefered VR sightseeing aircraft.

100% agree, I couldn't land helicopters until VR!
