March 29, 20242 yr Flew From New Havre to Raleigh today All VOR and vectors for landing. Broke people's backs on the landing, but I have good insurance. Love this plane more and more Ron MSFS 2024 -Too many airplanes to name. Too many airports to name.
March 30, 20242 yr I had a great time on my maiden flight. Once I got a bit familiar with the cockpit and flight dynamics, I didn't find the aircraft very difficult to operate at all. And best of all - the first landing went great! 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

Cap'n, Can I ask what settings you have in MSFS for depth of field and motion blur? Your scenery looked fantastic in this video, with just the right amount of blur in the near distance 😎 (Or was this reshade or similar?) I've got depth of field, motion blur, bloom and lense flare set to off (don't really fancy those that much). I used reshade extensively and almost vanished in that rabbit hole until it suddenly stopped working with SU11 (I think). Since then I haven't tried it. For image quality I've been using DLSS+DLAA lately at 4K. In usercfg.opt, I've set shadows to 6144 (default max is 2048), and sharpen, fringe, dirt and film grain set to off. Film grain off helps a little bit with cloud pixelation, while fringe off helps a lot with the "halo effect" around objects and trees. Also I'm using AutoFPS which gives me relatively high TLODs higher up and 50-100 below 1000ft. I've set target FPS to 65 and RTSS-locked FPS to 65, which is reasonably with my hardware around London, NY, LA etc. I'm using CyberLink PowerDirector, very intuitive, not too fancy, but it gets the job done. Sadly it cannot render videos in HDR though, which is a real shame. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
March 30, 20242 yr Very old school - in times where it is fashionable to sell ideas, announcements and screenshots - one gets a finished and bug free product! And if this was not enough, it is going to be even massively improved. That is really value for money. Thanks to Just Flight for this fantastic addon! The rendered video looks very different to the sim. 9 hours ago, Christopher Low said: Did I hear the howl of the flaps being retracted shortly after take off in that video? Don't think I retracted the flaps that early. Although I can't say for sure that I didn't as I was winging it. Been flying the 146 a lot since I got it yesterday. Autopilot can be a bit finicky, especially descending in V/S mode. I prefer IAS but then I don't always reach 2000fpm. Still learning a lot and browsing through the excellent manual while at cruise. Been fiddling around with the FMS - the WT edition is quite simple to use. I can't seem to properly change the flight plan in the air though - don't know how to clear the previous flight plan. Currently at FL300 en route from EHAM to EKCH with a ground speed of 540kts! And it has a working weather radar 🙂 Edited March 30, 20242 yr by Cpt_Piett 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5
March 31, 20242 yr Watching one of 320 sim pilots great tutorials, where he explains how to use the autopilot in detail. In particular he talks about how to "sync" to a certain vertical speed or airspeed while climbing or descending: https://youtu.be/AeczEyplij4?si=H6hBVEkjJIMFQexf&t=2397 To do this easily, he mapped a button to "toggle afterburner": https://youtu.be/AeczEyplij4?si=zDMnCajd8rbp8uuN&t=1870 Doing this it's easy to maintain a certain climb or descent rate. This aircraft has a lot of these unusual, quirky features. Like the TMS system (Thrust Modulation System) - 320 also explains how to use that in detail. April 1, 20242 yr I'd been putting off buying the 146, but with the imminent update, the sale and the general feeling of good will towards Just Flight, I pressed the button. As expected, it's gorgeous. Surely not everybody was kung fu fighting. https://rationalwiki.org
