I used it back in FSX/P3D years ago but had to stop using it because of constant CTD especially during SIDs.

Also, Support then was really slow via mail to the developer.

Agreed with the sentiments in here.

I have had P2ATC for a while and have quite a few Cereproc voices, so the robotic nature of the default voices might not be too bad. However, I've strictly used its button interface, if you will (it shows you the myriad drop downs and possible phrases you would want to say, rather than a few you can select from).

I do this because I too have to fly at night and would bother the family. That said, I decided to try SayIntentions' 24 hour trial. My first surprise was that you can type in your response, which was certainly helpful and tedious at the same time. My other surprise was that I could whisper and it would understand most of what I said while whispering (maybe 70%) and that if I spoke a bit louder or closer to the microphone, it was 100%.

It actually prompted me go through the process of training P2ATC and try its voice recognition. Even after training it wasn't as good when I was having to whisper and it would fail on slight errors in the phraseology. I want realism, but I also want a little heuristics to figure out what I mean when I don't get it 100%. Nothing more frustrating than repeating something many times to try to get it right. Since I'm not even a PPL, I don't know what I don't know.

The traffic injection and control is very intriguing and attractive, but without some button interface (with more than just a few options at a time), some flexibility in understanding what I'm saying (that could be changed by a slider, perhaps), and a trial, this might not be the right product for me.

Im not willing to risk my money buying VOX Atc and not liking it and waste my money. If I could try it before buying it, who knows, maybe I would become a new customer…

Vox has a prompt assisted mode and also a freeform expert mode, just as if you're in a cockpit.  You are free to choose either.  Also, the prompts are easily hidden/displayed, so as you get more experienced you can try without them, and have them back at the click.of a button if you need them 👍 Granted I haven't shown the UI, mainly because it's undergoing a revision and it's pointless showing something thats older and not in the release.  But I will, and of course, constructive feedback is always welcome.

I only demo'ed the departure because it was relatively easy to do short videos in the time I had available.  I'll happily do some videos showing a full flight Inc arrivals, both vectors and procedures, but I need to edit them to cut out any boring elements, otherwise they'll spend hours rendering and uploading 🤣

No comment on any other app, but I'll show what vox does for sure.  What's your expected threshold for handling a descent and arrival in a reliable and realistic manner?

At this point I dont think there is something in particular that I would like to see other than the program launched and see for myself. That was kinda my point, prerelease videos and even first looks tend to brush over the faults because the person is excited about a brand new thing that he wants to be great. After a while, couple of days or a week you tend to see all those little things that annoyed you a little at the start are transforming into deal breakers. So yeah, good luck with developement, I`m verry intererested to see how the final product will shape up to be.

Thanks ok, we know there will be things that still need work after initial release.  To expect otherwise, given the complexity of the subject area, and the variety of approaches worldwide, or even amongst pilots (read PPRUNE for fun - NOT!), would be foolish!

But, that said, we'd like to squash as many bugs as reasonably possible first 🙂

ok, here's a short complete VFR (just!) flight leaving and rejoining EGGP Liverpool.

Note this is beta, still some improvement to be made to the VFR ops.  Happy to take constructive feedback. As ever, no flame wars/comparisons with other ATC apps etc.... blah blah

Might take an hour to upload and process in 4k, sorry, blame YouTube and my dodgy ISP

Don't just listen to my comms, listen to what else is around and about too, and the instruction those AI are receiving 😉
