VoxATC IFR departure

Featured Replies

After a crash course in phraseology (including frequently making a fool of myself), I'm ready to share a video of a flight I did yesterday in the Fenix A320 from Liverpool to London Heathrow. My initial impression is that VoxATC brings a lot to the table, which makes IFR airliner flights very immersive.

  • full control of AI aircraft
  • realistic phraseology
  • holding patterns
  • vectoring to maintain traffic separation
  • vectoring to final approach
  • being able to choose a different approach
  • missed approaches following published procedures

More info can be found in the video description. Remember - it's in beta, so there are bugs that are currently being sorted out. As I'm sure @kevinfirth will point out, any comments, observations and suggestions would be extremely helpful.

My next video will be another flight in the Fenix, from Gatwick to Frankfurt, featuring CereProc voices. Adding them to Vox is as simple as installing any Windows app. Also - it's possible to download a variety of Windows 11 so-called natural voices - UK, USA, Australia, Ireland, Canada, India. Also in the next video, Naomi, VoxATC's super-helpful AI assistant, might make an appearance. Many will probably not believe this, but she did come up with heaps of suggestions in the process of making these videos!

Thanks Kevin, should be ready soon. It'll introduce some new aspects, such as a missed approach - in addition to a combination of various voices. Unfortunately I wasn't able to find any French, Dutch or German accents - that would have been awesome!

Here's Gatwick to Frankfurt:

Note: Some airports have issues with poorly designed taxi layouts. AIG's Kaiii has written about this several times. I've found this to be true with payware EHAM, EBBR, EGCC - off the top of my head. Other airports just works.

On this flight, there didn't seem to be any issues at both airports (freeware EGKK and default/enhanced EDDF). At EDDF separate runways were used for arrivals and departures, and everything seemed to flow really well.

By the way - how do I get rid of white/blank liveries? I'm using AIG.

Have to ask at AIG, have you run the AIG app itself to check for missing liveries etc?

Yes, recently I updated everything.

There are no white placeholder liveries in AIG, only in FSLTL. Do you have their liveries still installed (FSLTL)?

Or are you maybe mistaking the wet lease aircraft' liveries with blank liveries? Wet lease aircraft often have blank liveries (because they are leased on a daily/weekly basis to different airlines). I see them regularly at EDDF in real life.

I did delete the FSLTL folder a while back. Could be lease aircraft though, didn't think of that. I think one of them landing at Gatwick was an Easyjet.

You'll recognise them from having an actual registration (mostly something Eastern European, like "LZ-...").

Looking closer, one had FL-LBJ I think. Had to zoom in, bit hard to read

This one in front of me, ATC referred to as Easy 6411

It's YL-LDJ. This one: https://www.airfleets.net/ficheapp/plane-a320-4351.htm

Was leased to easyJet from Smart Lynx in an all-white livery. If interested, see it's operational history in link below.

From the product descriptions offered by Kevin (thanks by the way for your efforts) and the (beta) videos, VoxATC seems to be ticking most boxes for a complete ATC product covering: IFR and VFR, accuracy in ATC procedures and phraseology, correct ground instructions, AI traffic with AIG (freeware and arguably the best and most complete AI package available today), voice recognition (or keyboard in the future if I understand correctly), the only box remaining unticked is for the quality of the voices, it's a little bit like releasing a super duper detailed "study level" aircraft in MSFS with FS9 graphics...

Some will say "No go for me", others "I don't mind the voices", or "buy yourself a set of voices", another might think aloud: "if the MSFS/Asobo team could take a careful and serious look at this product and talk to the VoxATC developers, they perhaps could see an opportunity for a superb and professional added value to their upcoming MSFS 2024, that would remove a big headache to Asobo still badly struggling with a half-backed ATC after four years. VoxATC could become the MSFS ATC gurus the same way WT are for avionics and INI for new default airplanes"

Voices then, would be taken care of...!

Here's a little IFR departure for you... thankyou for the AIG packages @Kaiii3!

EGGP departure with FSR500 and VoxATC (youtube.com)

Great effort by you for the community Kevin, thank you. A quick question, as I have been unable to find an answer, but does VoxATC show the correct phraseology for each ATC interaction, in the form of text, as it does for the P3D/FSX versions. This is sadly lacking in BATC, and as someone who is not fully conversant with all phraseology, this would be a great help, as it was in the P3D version of VoxATC. Cheers.
