June 5, 20242 yr Does anyone know what features are unlocked on the Pimax Light if deciding to make the final payment after the trial period and keep the headset? If I want to evaluate it in MSFS, seems odd to have features disabled? Maybe they're not related to image quality, which is the important thing?
June 5, 20241 yr I've read their description and it's not clear to me. May I ask a side question, can you use OpenXRToolkit with the Pimax Light? June 12, 20241 yr Would so like to know if anyone is running one on a 3080 and is happy with it. Very very tempted if it runs well 3080rtx on a i7 12700k with 32 Gig ddr5. 2gig Ssd Quest 2 Windows 11
June 13, 20241 yr I believe nothing is disabled during the trial period, just after 15 days if you don't complete payment, the headset is locked out until you do make the final payment or return the headset. Ryzen 9800X3D, RTX 5090, 64GB, Win 11. MSFS2020. Moza, MFG, Fulcrum & Virpil controllers. Quest 3 for VR.

Thanks, I suspected that might be the case, so went ahead and ordered anyway. It's quite a generous offer by the company. I already own the Varjo Aero, so it could be that any improvement is modest, although Vrsimguy is full of praise for it, saying that the improved field of view makes it a better VR experience. Running it with the openXRToolkit looks fiddley (see earlier link), but with a return option, I'm willing to give it a try.
June 13, 20241 yr I'm just surprised the trial offer is the bulk of the payment up front. Would have made it more sense to be 50/50. Personally, I'll hold off until there is local stock in the UK i.e. from Amazon most likely. Ryzen 9800X3D, RTX 5090, 64GB, Win 11. MSFS2020. Moza, MFG, Fulcrum & Virpil controllers. Quest 3 for VR.

June 15, 20241 yr I just bought it. Once it arrives I'll write my findings here. I couldn't imagine using it with OpenXR. The headset should run fine without any legacy G2 software. Only SteamVR is needed on top of Primax's software. Stay tuned. Like Kaboki just said, I need a replacement for my G2.🍺 FS2020 Alienware Aurora R11 10th Gen Intel Core i7 10700F - Windows 11 Home 32GB Ram NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super OC 16GB - Pimax Crystal Light VR

June 16, 20241 yr I got the crystal light in today. I screwed up and did not order the controllers. I did not think I needed them since I only use VR in sims and I use a mouse pointer in the cockpit. The problem with VR is the software requires the controllers for different settings, etc... But I was able get MSFS and DCS up and running regardless, not ideal. First off the ergonomics/comfort are horrible! It feels and looks cheap. I had a little bit of light leakage on one side. It has some really cheap foams as cushion. It hurts my face after about 15-30 minutes. The Quest 3 is miles ahead in that dept. You really need a 4090 to drive the pixels. It's miles ahead of the quest 3 in sharpness/resolution! I have 6800xt and I had lower all the settings to minimum. I was looking at 45 fps flying in the middle of nowhere. It's really not sharp enough at those settings and probably not worth it unless you are going to invest in a 40 something. With the Quest 3 I was looking at 30-35 minimum settings. DCS looked amazing! Not sure what the FPS was but seemed a lot smother then MSFS. I am leaning towards a return. Too uncomfortable, and I do not want to spend $1800 for a 4090. Maybe Bigscreen Beyond is a better option. Their app they recommend said my ppi was 57.5, the CL goes down to 58, not sure how accurate that app is. June 19, 20241 yr Quick update: Adjusted the top strap so it's more comfortable now, operator error. Bought a 4080 for testing. Getting descent fps with OpenXr tweaks, not perfect, getting stutters and artifacts here and there. One of my settings could be tweak wrong. About 45-60 fps medium setting flying in Los Angles area. The visuals in the headset are spectacular if you have the horsepower! Simming in VR is so immersive that I feel like I am flying in real life again! Flying the ILS approach into Oxnard at night in the rain was unreal! Almost destroyed another Comanche 250, spatial disorientation. That bird drops like a rock when you chop the power. It really needs a 4090 or a 5090 for perfect visuals and smoothness. AMD Ryzen 7 5800X3D, RTX 4080S, Ram - 32GB, 32" 4K Monitor, WIN 11. Eric Escobar
June 19, 20241 yr I've got a 4090 (details in signature) and would be very tempted to try VR again...I just worry about performance. In a place like EGLL with say 50% AIG or FSLTL, what sort of FPS should I expect? Kael Oswald 9950X3D/ 64GB DDR5 6200 @ CL30 / Custom Water Loop / RTX 5090 / 3 x 48" LG C4 OLEDs
