If you don't like it, move along.. we could care less for your habitual gatekeeping of what should or not be posted here lol. Rather than trying to cosplay a moderator, maybe try to apply for the role with the staff here (hint: you ain't gonna become one).

A thing i didn't hear about, remember time ago when they were talking about off loading part of the calculations to their servers (a bit like Geforce Now does by running games remotely and sending to your pc just a video stream)?

Maybe they changed idea or maybe they haven't shared news about it yet? What do you think?

Unfortunately they didn't say anything more than "2024 performs better than 2020", BUT in the end of this inteview, when talking about the open beta testing, Jörg said they want stress test their infrastructure before release and said 2024 relies on 30 cloud services, while 2020 relies on 6. I'd say that's a hint on the offloading part.

FSElite asks about "missions" and Jorg immediately shuts this down by saying, "I do not think of them as missions as much as I think of them as authentic aviation activities". This is something the media needs to get right because they are adding to a lot of the misconceptions spreading around the internet. MS is going for a proper career mode and not just one-off missions!

What's wrong with the word "missions!? "Aviation activities" = mission in gamer speak.

Because in our hobby we like to stigmatize words. Like calling MSFS a GAME. Or calling MISSIONS “gamey”. Jörg is just trying to change this trend.

Really? This was the first I heard that they are using SDK editor to create the missions and that they are strongly considering making it user friendly in the manner that it is for GTA 5, allowing users to add gates and scripts for missions. Also, that out of the gate the tools will be available for third party developers to use the dev build of SDK mission editor to create after market mission packs. They also said microsoft will be releasing new missions as part of updates.

So... no I found this interview to be quite pleasing. Also, the questions regarding helicopters as AI traffic was a new question that I have wanted since fsx... As well as, being able to spawn on helipads on ships is almost a guarantee down the road.

I feel you just wanted to say something mean, but that's okay, I forgive you.

Because people like to jerk their knees and bellow "FLIGHT SIM IS GAEM?!" any time they use gamey-sounding terminology.

not a bit. I cant wait for MSFS 2024 release date myself. I guess I just lost interest when they brought up GTA5 style missions. didn't mean to be mean. 🤣

"I forgive you."

I appreciate that. we all need forgivness once in a while. I will have to watch it one more time and pay more attention. thanks.

No no no, lol did anybody watch it? haha He was saying that currently SDK mission editor is only available to developers (microsoft and third party), as I imagine it requires writing lines of code. He was just saying that "take GTA 5 for example", has a user friendly mission editor, where they can just plop down items and create gates without having to write lines in C++. Meaning down the line, their goal is to make where we can just click and drag items, and create mission criteria (gates).

i.e. if a user creates a rescue mission, I can just plop down a hurt pedestrian, and the rescue crew automatically goes out and picks them up and places them in the copter without me having to write lines of code for that. Upon arriving back at the hospital, I could just place a box to land in and it is mission successful, i.e. "gates".

Trust me my imagination ran wild when they announced mission, I immediately thought mission editor.

- Kerbal space program style observation misison, photography, etc.

- Weather observation

- Fire, medical emergencies, extractions

- Traffic copters, etc,

- Cross country flights, incentive rides, charters, transport. Limited by imagination
