Kind of puts things into perspective. My very deep condolences David. My sister also passed away several weeks ago after fighting the 'Big C' for three years. The process taught me a lot about managing stress and about seeing the bigger picture. I'm sure you and I are both much wiser for our losses. Unfortunately, this thread is about people seeking instant gratification, then stamping their feet and popping their cork when they realise they received gratification but it was (shock, horror) a slowed down version of it. I'm not sure I entirely understand this impetuous behaviour or how it came about but I suspect it's why aliens fly right past us. Not sure if you are considering purchasing the B777 and you might feel a bit guilty about doing that at this time. But there comes a point where life must go on and a B777 might just do the trick to cheer us up. June 27, 20241 yr "Disaster" is a bit much. I wonder if people just expect perfection when in reality if you play pretty much the top video games and purchase add-ons, rarely are launches smooth. Let's take Heatblur for example. Healtblur is probably one of the most respected developers out there. They literally posted the day the F-4 was gonna release on their YouTube release video. Guess what? It released a whole day later past the scheduled and advertised release date. They just said, "sorry, have to wait another day...." https://www.reddit.com/r/hoggit/comments/1cx3er9/f4_phantom_launch_delayed_to_22nd_may/ In my case, I ordered the 777 on my iPhone while grocery shopping lol. Got home like 90 minutes later, received the email, download took like 3 minutes, and I was flying. I just can't get worked up over waiting 90 minutes for download link. Heck even a day and I'd be whatever. Just a little odd that Heatblur pretty much told everyone to wait for 24 hours for a download link and nobody really batted an eye. Some folks wait three hours and pitchforks come out. Perspective... Yours patiently, Terry I never understood why people get so worked up over a video game and a toy plane. I mean, wait a week, or better yet, 6 months, when all the major bugs are ironed out, or don' t and play something else. With all these "angsty" posts, you would think people are attempting to download the key to eternal health, happiness and money.
June 27, 20241 yr I bought and downloaded the 777 with no issues the day after. Then again my life is not depending on a piece of software like obviously it is for others.

But ED always packages new releases with patches for the main sim and other products. The showstopper that prevented the release was on one of those and not with the F4E. So it was ED who pretty much took all the flak with the delay, similar to what PMDG experienced. I think its just the nature of the flightsim community. June 27, 20241 yr They can (and did) scale their e-commerce "servers" (actually services) for the launch, because those kinds of applications scale easily. Email servers, however, do not necessarily scale easily and that's where the bottleneck was, which cascades to the website because that's what is trying to talk to the email server(s). I imagine it wasn't unexpected, since they had the same (plus a couple of other) bottlenecks last time.

One has to know what switches to turn off in order to go inverted in a 777 as the avionics were specifically designed to prevent it. Gosh do I miss working these planes in real life.
