PMDG Rollout for 777 is complete disaster

Really? The old "servers are overwhelmed" chestnut again?

This ALWAYS happens with highly anticipated releases from ANY add-on maker. Why is it so imperative we get the latest and greatest on Day 1 especially when we know these kind of things do and will happen?
Whining and complaining hasn't helped the situation improve in the many years I've been simming. Why should it be any different now?

  • Mine took a little bit, as expected. But plane is installed and look great now. Does anybody have any patience these days? Or is it a thing from the past.

  • I said this in the main forum, I don’t understand why people try to purchase and download a product they already know is heavily anticipated from a company that has historically troubled launches rega

Purchased this about an hour ago.  It took about 25 minutes to get the download link email and about 3 minutes for the verification key email.  Finely downloading it took 3 or 4 minutes.  I would not expect anything different with such a sizeable release.  Only PMDG knows what the sales numbers are so far but it must be massive.  It does not really bother me and indicates that our hobby is healthy.  With such great sales number we can be sure we will get many great products from PMDG and many other payware manufactures.

Have not tried it out yet as I am in the middle of another flight but will once I land.  I did install the UA livery without issue or any delays.  I would say its going about as well as can be expected!

Complete disaster?? Dunno, I'm flying right now, OMG, how I've missed this gem, haven't flown it since P3D5, and finally the plane this sim cried out for 🙂

Only trouble I had was my browser for some reason was blocking a popup, once I noticed that everything worked fine, had no trouble with the install, and we shall see in a few hours how it lands, otherwise I'm completely stoked!! Thank You PMDG!!!  Course now I just need my 747 🙂

Why is it they can take your money without delay?

Likewise. It took me about 45 minutes to get download email, but the verification email came right through and from there, the whole installation took 6 minutes, including going into the operations center to select my livery.

I just spent the last hour sitting at the gate setting all my custom camera views and preferred aircraft options, then powered down and set a custom cold and dark startup state as I do for for all PMDG aircraft. I have overtime work commitments for the rest of the week, so I won’t have the opportunity to do a proper flight until the weekend.

My first flight will be AAL349 from LAX to MIA. Not really “long haul” by 777 standards, but a good 4.5 hours to test all the systems and re-familiarize myself with 777 ops since I last flew one in P3D several years ago.

First time in online today for me, that the majority of planes weren´t 737s-320s, tons of 777s everywhere.

Ummm you got peoples money in your pocket and can not give a product to a paying customer in a timely matter don't work in 2024. Get out of here with that no one is going for that and people have a right be upset and nothing about being a child.

I might say it's about 5% better, but sadly, it's nowhere near the performance of a real airplane in LNAV. The aircraft adheres strictly to the magenta line. I've attached two pictures: the first one shows the deviation from JFK 31L, and the second one shows a 0.29 deviation on an RF leg. It's disappointing that despite the significant effort and achievements in other areas, this A/P, FD interface has brought the same deficiencies/bugs from the 737 into a new product. This issue isn't related to the actual 777 line pilots involved in this development; it's RSR's typical haste in releasing a new product with serious bugs. I'm disheartened; this person isn't up to the task, and it's unfortunate that the programmers are put in such a position.

oh my! "serious bugs!" go file a support tix with pmdg and tell the man himself how he's not up to the task and you know better.   never ending whining on avsim ain't going to do no good.

Not sure if this helps, but just purchased and got a conversion rate of £1 = $1.216 using Paypal. I can't say the total sterling price as I paid only $47.73 (£39.25) as I had a $30 discount.

System 1: AMD Ryzen 9 5950X @ 4.2GHz, 2x16GB DDR4 2600MHz CL18 RAM, EVGA RTX 3090 FTW, Samsung 840 Pro SSD 1TB, Samsung 840 Pro SSD 512GB, Seagate 2TB HDD, Windows 11 Pro 64bit, Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog.

So £ 63.50.

At least they're not adding tax.

Not too bad.

I remember paying 120 GBP for the PMDG 747 for P3D 👀😂

If I was cynical about a company, their staff, and their products, I would delay purchase for a week or two after a product release to review feedback and see how it performs.

I would also prefer they didn't increase their server infrastructure to cope with just a few hours of high demand, and pass the cost onto me.

FS2024 • PMDG 738, 77F • FSL A321 • A2A Comanche, Aerostar • BS Baron, Bonanza, Caravan Pro • JF Tomahawk • TAOG H500C
BeyondATC • GSX Pro • ChasePlane & Flow Pro • TDS GTNXi • FSUIPC • AutoFPS • RealTurb

A lot of peeps have issues with them.

But ... they do make THE best airliners in history.

IMO no others come close. So IF you like Boeings just pretend Mr R doesn't exist. You get used to it.
