August 3, 20241 yr Greetings all! I was wondering if anyone else is having issues with the A/P with this aircraft. I've watched numerous videos/tutorials for this aircraft. I can't for the life of me, get the autopilot to stay engaged after takeoff. I press it once on the runway to activate the auto throttles. When I press the button the 2nd time to try to engage it around 1000' AGL. It will engage for a moment and then disengage with "Betty" yelling "Autopilot!". Just wondering if anyone has any tips/tricks they use when engaging it. "...now let's get this thing on the hump - we've got some flyin' to do!" ~ Major Kong from "Dr. Stranglove" Scott Cebula
August 3, 20241 yr You are SURE you are not touching any yoke or axis like trim button on your hardware? Or have you set null zones because just a slight signal from the yoke could disconnect ap. I don't know the tfdi but spent many years in the pmdg. Russell Gough SE London
August 3, 20241 yr Author I'm not doing any trimming when I engage the autopilot. Can't remember if my hand has been on my Thrustmaster Airbus stick or not. This is the only aircraft in my vast virtual hangar I'm having this issue with. (Not at pc right now) I'm just firing up the engines in the A300 for a flight. I'll check the MD 11 EFB settings section tonight or in the morning. Thanks! August 4, 20241 yr Are you using the honeycomb Bravo throttle unit? If so you only need to bump the trim wheel and the auto pilot will disengage. August 4, 20241 yr Its a setting in the EFB, I dont remember off hand but it says something like Hardware over ride. I am not at pc. Its there it drove me crazy too. Chris Chiozza
August 4, 20241 yr Author No, not using the HoneyComb Bravo. Did a quick take-off a few moments ago. Setting "Allow Hardware Overforce" in the EFB to "No" seems to have solved the problem. August 4, 20241 yr For me the AP is fairly stable except in periods of extreme turbulence I have had it kick off before. This may actually be a feature and not a problem.

August 4, 20241 yr on EAD you have to check for a green rectangle, then everything is ready for TO, otherwise there is noted what is wrong - here STAB TRIM, btw in the real thing you can not select a synoptic page if stab is out of trim, SD will show the ENG page instead to point you to the stab setting. Another thing during take off the autoflight button doesn't work, i push it one time but the speed doesn't move Edited August 5, 20241 yr by motishow
