Very good point Ryan. So, no benefit in the presale?

I would say the same as with a lot of presales out there: folks get it because it may run out of stock 😛

  • Lol.  This is a developer stream, not a hearing before Congress.

Strange that Xbox Store and Aerosoft already offer MSFS 2024 in presale, but not Steam. I hope to be wrong.

Edit: now I know why:

I understand and think it's a good thing that Asobo/Microsoft want to attract a new audience, but I hope that for a "veteran" flight simulator user like me there's no need to go through all those “career mode” menus and I can go straight to my usual flight from A to B without any "complications".

I've heard a rumour that MSFS even simulates having to travel from your virtual home to the airfield...by bycicle🚲. They force you to cycle 20min. (double that if it's raining!) to the airport and this cannot be skipped. Once you progress a bit you can go by car but traffic jams will be simulated!

The good news is that you don't have to wait for the sim to load, it does all that while you are doing the cycling to the airport!

Just kidding of course😁 I am confident that we can skip the whole career/mission business just like you can do in MSFS2020.

It will be possible and we'll have direct access to “Free Flight” in the Menu. A relatively small entry compared to the rest, but it's there...

You apparently get a 2020 version of the CL-415 if you pre-order.

I personally preorder for budgeting reasons. Take the money now so I don’t have to worry about it later lol

Career mode is one of the available modes. Carrer, Challenges, Photography and yes, Free Flight.

What people forget, you have no crash simulation. Pretty sure that those vids showing a 747 being landed on St. Barths have crash detection turned off and together with the fact that MSFS does not even simulate crashes when turned on, you can basically slam-land a 747 everywhere. In reality, you might have shattered your 747 all over the place (or crashed, however you will call it), in MSFS it simply stands on your runway. Now you can either blame MSFS for not properly representing such a "landing" or just accept it as a limitation of current sims.

You can drive your car with 300km/h into a concrete wall in most racing sims and the 3D model of the car will NOT look anything like the real thing would look when you do this. You call the entire sim then being physically inaccurate? I guess not...

What you want is a visual correct depiction of a crashed airplane. And it 100% contradicts your own statement of MSFS basically "wasting" resources for visuals...

Nothing to do with crash detection, it’s the fact one can stop the aircraft.

I've been putting down PMDG planes at full realism settings down on tiny strips for a decade. FSX/MSFS. My schtick is that I've had an emergency like a fire or total engine failure and HAD to land at nearest strip. I don't do grass but if it's hard I'll land on it. Or try to. Not for bragging rights I just like the challenge of overcoming the physics.

MD-11/736 are my goto dead stickers.

You don't say it can't be done. You ask HOW it can be done. If you HAD to.

Dump fuel for a start. Check manifest. Winds, dry/wet runway/slope/altitude.

IN MSFS I will say it does seem much easier to do crazy things. It's not fun to me, it ruins the challenge/realism. I did a drop take off from a Nepalese 2000 footer in a 736 which WORKED, when I should have left a long oil stain. I then went on to do a vertical stall in same mountains followed by killing both engines and restarting with APU/feather all while a couple thousand feet deep in a valley. No problem. This is WITH airframe stress on which will blow your Piper up if you open the side window to demist the screen!

Yep, and much more … should just call it “Easy peezy Flight Simulator”.  I’ve used “study level” (I use that term loosely) aircraft all realism cranked up as much as I can, you can pretty much can know nothing about the aircraft and flight and land anywhere.  I understand they want to be “inclusive” and fun for all, but I’d really like something a bit more realistic and difficult.

2024 is adding new ground physics and handling.

But it will probably be up to each aircraft dev to add the new parameters to their aircraft.

Tell me what you've done with AI, ATC, Live Weather, Physics, how you'll improve Beta periods, how you'll improve Quality Control, how you've learnt lessons from mistakes and errors made with the current Sim etc #WishfulThinking!

OK tonight is the night, I've bolded the areas covered in the recent Press Event so *I know all about or at least mostly about those things, so lets have it Jorg, Seb & Martial, tell *me something *I don't know and talk about areas you'll improve that don't necessarily have to do with fancy looking pebbles 😄

*yes that's right I'm asking on behalf of myself, deal with it!
