Is Premium Deluxe for 2024 worth it if I own it for 2020?

Sure, great that you feel MSFS 2024 isn't any different from MSFS 2020. And thanks for letting us know this and how you're not drawn to stuff just because it's new, we can all rest easy now 🙂 And yes thankfully you can continue with MSFS 2020.

Gee, Maybe we should go back to FS9 then.......   😁

Once Mr Gates hears about this oversight you know what the answer will be 😂

Yeah, I don't think the add-ons from Deluxe or Premium Deluxe versions of MSFS 2020 will carry over, once the MSFS team finishes discussing this. This person is already considering a refund on their Premium Deluxe purchase of MSFS 2024, if the add-ons do carry over.  The MSFS team and Microsoft probably want to avoid a bunch of refunds like this, it just means more work for them and a loss of revenue for them.

It’ll be interesting to see if the previous default aircraft have been tweaked and updated in anyway.

One video I watched said the 2024 F/A-18 flew much better/ differently than the 2020 version.

This may be either a tweak to the individual aircraft or the new flight modelling of the host sim, most likely the later at a guess.

I also read somewhere the default aircraft needed updating to 2024 standard to accommodate the new walk round feature.

Ya one would certainly hope so, "drinking your own medicine" as it were 🙂 .. at least per this interview with Seb he says they've been updating/tweaking the existing default aircraft to take advantage of the new FDE and other features in MSFS 2024: https://youtu.be/VyNi-Ic9mXQ?t=101 ... and not just Asobo/WT but also the 3rd party devs with early access to the 2024 SDK for the new/existing default birds like the ones from iniBuilds etc.

Yeah, it would be nice to get an official answer from MSFS staff. Even in that thread in the official MSFS forum where people claim Deluxe and Premium Deluxe airplanes and airports should carry over from MSFS 2020 to MSFS 2024, no official staff gave an answer, it was just the assumption by other forum members that it would carry over.

Do we really need an official answer to derive at the obvious conclusion? BL: You're able to use the 2020 aircraft/airports via the license you bought for MSFS 2020.  If you chose a different license in MSFS 2024, than the previous aircraft will be unavailable.   Obviously, this doesn't include marketplace/3rd party software, which are covered via different licensing agree and delivery model.  Do we honestly believe Microsoft will to setup an entirely new architecture to disincentivize you to spend less money?

Moreover, if you go to the preorder page, Microsoft is explicit what each version contains.  The notion that default airports/aircraft from the previous deluxe version would carry over to the standard versions were started by posters taking explicit facts WAY out-of-context.  All you're doing is perpetuating the misinformation....

What you might be able to do is port your MSFS 2020 aircraft to MSFS 2024, which is something we did in FS2004 to FSX, and FSX to P3D.

Is there a list of airports included in various versions?

Your asking a question here the NO ONE can give you an answer.

MSFS 2024 Has not been released so how is it that anyone can answer the question.

An answer will simply be a wild guess or some ones opinion, neither will give you a definitive answer.

The best suggestion is to simply wait and make your own educated choice at that time!

But the time is now...you can preorder the game today.

airports are msfs2020 upgraded airports for msfs2024. If you buy premium, you get few new flyables.

So I am reading this thread here in the official forums, and it appears that if you own the Premium Deluxe version of MSFS 2020, your planes will transfer over to MSFS 2024, especially the 787: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/will-add-ons-from-premium-deluxe-edition-transfer-to-msfs2024/639669

I own the Premium Deluxe version of MSFS 2020. For me, the plane that makes the Premium Deluxe version of MSFS 2020 worth it is the 787, especially after all the work that Working Title did on it. And now you can get the Horizon Simulations and Kuro mod for the 787.

I would like to continue to fly the 787 in MSFS 2024, with the Horizon Simulations and Kuro mods, and all the updates they do for it in MSFS 2024.  But I looked at all the new planes that come with the Deluxe and Premium Deluxe version of MSFS 2024, and I am not too interested in those planes. So I am considering buying the Standard Version of MSFS, if I can continue to fly the Horizon Simulation and Kuro mods for the 787 in MSFS 2024.

So my question is, will the 787 from MSFS 2020 transfer over nicely to MSFS 2024, and if the 787 is further upgraded in MSFS 2024, I should get those upgrades for free, because I already own it in MSFS 2020, right?

The MSFS 2024 FAQ does not mention anything about MSFS 2020 content that comes with the Deluxe or Premium edition and whether you will get the upgrades for those content for free in MSFS 2024. It only mentions "purchased content" from the MSFS marketplace:

I would think if you get upgrades for the Reno Air Races, Local Legends, Famous Flyers, Expert Series, etc, for free, then for consistency, if I buy the Standard Version of MSFS 2024, I should get any upgrades that they make to the 787 in MSFS 2024 for free as well.

The last thing I want is for the 787 to transfer over to MSFS 2024, but then Working Title or Asobo does further changes to it, and I don't get the upgraded version of the 787 and I am stuck with the "2020" version of the 787.  In that case, the Horizon Simulations and Kuro mods for the 787 will be broken, if there is a "2020" version of the 787, and a "2024" version of the 787 that has been upgraded/changed by Asobo or Working Title in MSFS 2024.

Having content transfer over to MSFS 2024 is one thing, and we all know that content from MSFS 2020 can transfer over to MSFS 2024.  Continually getting upgrades on the content that transferred over to MSFS 2024 (ie. the 787) is another. I am more interested in the latter.

So here's the thing: the 787 is a feature of Premium Deluxe. I.e., you bought Premium Deluxe, NOT the 787.

When you buy other, stand alone content, like a Famous Flyer, you've bought the individual plane.

So if you want the 787 in v2024, you need to buy the thing that includes the 787, which is Premium Deluxe.

It'd be kinda like flying First Class on a flight, then buying a Coach ticket for the next one, but still expecting your pre-flight warm nuts, mimosa and a big seat. 😉

Make sense?

Wow, your comments are getting worse and worse. It's being sold right now. They need to make a decision because people are buying it. If you run a business, and people are buying your product already, decisions like this are supposed to have been made already.

If they don't make a decision quickly, and eventually allow add-ons from MSFS 2020 Deluxe and Premium Deluxe version carry over to MSFS 2024, a lot of people may ask for refunds.

I guarantee you they won't wait until November 19th to make a decision on this. Maybe a business that you run would wait until November 19th (but I doubt you would be successful in running a business if you made such decisions as waiting another 2 months on a critical issue like this).  They will make a decision quite soon, or else the refund requests will pile up, and their customer service will be doing a lot of work on refunds, for nothing.

They're literally not "add-ons". They're features of the specific Edition...

It looks SIGNIFICANTLY different. There have been a handful of comparison shots and it's night and day.
