FS24 IMPORTING SETTINGS FROM MSFS 2020?

Featured Replies

Hi,

Anyone knows if the new FS24 will import all our settings (controllers mostly: mouse, keyboard, throttle, joystick, rudder pedals; camera views...).

If settings could be imported automatically it would save us all a lot of work.

Regards.

The settings are held in a cloud profile so anything could happen...

After losing my settings following an update, mine are now fully documented. I would recommend this before installing 2024, just in case...

FS2024 • PMDG 738, 77F • FSL A321 • A2A Comanche, Aerostar • BS Baron, Bonanza, Caravan Pro • JF Tomahawk • TAOG H500C
BeyondATC • GSX Pro • ChasePlane & Flow Pro • TDS GTNXi • FSUIPC • AutoFPS • RealTurb

9800X3D B650E • ROG OC RTX 5090 • 64GB DDR5-6000 • VKB Gladiator, STECS, T-Rudder • Tobii 5 • ISP 1 Gbps

Hi,

Thank you, flyingscampi.

Just this morning I've began to write down my settings and control bindings in advance!

Greetings

A quick and dirty method is to use the Windows snipping tool in rectangle mode and screen grab the settings pages in MSFS 🙂

Hi,

Confirmed.

Settings and bindings cannot be imported to FS24 from FS2020.

Regards.

If this turns out to be true, then from a programmer/developer standpoint, this is total F****up from Asobo.

Edit: confirmed in last nights Q&A.

Whilst this will indeed be a PITA to go through, it sounds like from the Q&A last night that there's a lot of underlying code changes to the way controllers & bindings are used, hopefully for the better as in some circumstances it's a right faff in the current UI.

What I'm far more concerned about is that *ALL* settings (graphics, assistance, data, traffic etc etc etc) can be saved locally. The major problem with the current setup is the Assistance Settings occasionally go walkabout from the Cloud/Server, I've lost count of the number of times I've had to redo those...now that's a PITA I could do without in MSFS24.

And this is the least of the problems we have to face in 2024☝🏻

What are the others?

It will be annoying and time consuming to do when all I'm going to want to do is fly as soon as I get MSFS2024 but I have a pdf with a labelled diagram of everything on my Hotas Warthog so, if you haven't done so already, make one yourself before you forget!

I love how every issue, no matter how small or irrelevant it is, down to not being able to import some settings which is extremely rare in gaming across new releases because that's just a hotbed for problems, there's always a few select people who find it to be the biggest drama, the biggest catastrophic event to happen.

There's an app on flightsim.to called FS202 Control that will produce a list.  You can only export one device at a time, but it will write those to PDF or Excel files.  You would need to export each control separately.

Also, it might include some default settings that you're not using, but export in Excel and you can delete those that aren't applicable.

Asobo made drastic changes to the way buttons and axes are assigned to aircraft; it will automatically switch to the settings you made for specific aircraft.

I use AAO so for me it won't be an issue as long as AAO works with MSFS2024. I started to use AAO precisely because MSFS2020 did not automatically switch profiles, but it can do so much more so I will probably keep using it.

Hello together.

Like has been answered already, it won't be possible.

I've written this tool (Freeware) for msfs 2020 that let's you backup, revert and share profiles. When 2024 comes out I try to find out if there is a way to bring the old profiles into 2024. But I can't promise of course.

But maybe it helps the one or other already now.

If you use please really read the readme file included.

Ps: this not just creates a list. You can really Export all your profiles with 1 click.

To revert a profile you choose an existing/empty one and overwrite it with the backed up profile (or with one you got from someone else).
