November 24, 20241 yr Yes. I’m running triple 1440p monitors with the 4080. More power the better. November 24, 20241 yr I run a 4080Super in 4K no problem, the 5080 will blow the 4090 away. The 4070S may be the sweat spot for value. Edited November 24, 20241 yr by G-RFRY Raymond Fry.

There are reports that it will be only marginally faster than a 4090, why do you think it will blow away a 4090? Besides this, at least in MSFS2020, my VRAM is hammered when using Fenix and/or a complex addon airport such as EDDF or KLAX with AI traffic. Needed to reduce texture resolution to "high" instead of "ultra". In MSFS2024, the 16GB VRAM of my 4080 is full all the time, even when using a GA plane on a small airfield. So no, I doubt that a RTX 5080 will be a relevant upgrade over a 4080 for us flightsimmers. With its nowadays ridiculously small VRAM, it will also be not the 4K card nVIDIA claims it is going to be. November 27, 20241 yr Never. Ever. Overpriced, not really required, insane power consumption. Just no. The 3090 was kind of ok, but then nVidia screwed up completely. November 27, 20241 yr If AMD make good on crossfire app support with the 8000 series GPUs, and the power consumption and cost of two 8000 series GPUs is less than the 5090 … with no concerns over melting power connectors … I think AMD GPUs will be the choice for many enthusiasts. Should be an interesting Q1 in 2025 … and as suggested before, buy it ASAP before the orange baboon increases tariffs on Asian imports.

The 4090 was aimed at developers. Raymond Fry.

Are you denying there will be another Tariff increase on Asian imports when our government “peacefully” exchanges hands? Believe it or not politics does impact lives, more specifically a stupid and delusional individual has promised to raise tariffs on Asian imports. That will have a huge impact on US economy as 90% of the products related to electronics/computers are imported from these Asian countries into the US. It was a trigger for inflation before and it will be again, so my comment is for the benefit for those that want to buy new PC components to do it as soon as possible before the Tariff’s hit. Rather than pursue a line to try to get this post removed (oh the tyranny), maybe do something that is beneficial for those thinking of buying new PC components.
