Bear in mind that 40nm out from arrival you have the option of following RC vectors or flying the arrival yourself according to the relevant STAR. Best of both worlds. 👍 Ray (Cheshire, England). October 8, 20241 yr Demos are available for P2ATC & VoxATC, both of which use SapiTTS voices (from/included with W10/11) to say all airline, airport & fixes names ..... ie no phonetics The latter is more than simple to use for vfr & ifr and has amongst other features a pronunciation editor & its own traffic engine/controller of *.bgl schedules ..... which is second to none (for many years now). for now, cheers john martin

October 9, 20241 yr Hi, BeechCaptain, Where is the PF3INI File located? I cannot see it in my PF3 Folder? [Try this: If you add FreeLicence=1 to your PF3.INI file Cofig section you will no longer need to activate the software] Regards Terry Hogan Specs: P3D Academic v5.4, RTX 3060, Intel I7-12700KF , Gigabyte Z790 Aorus AX ICE, DDR5 32gb 6000mhz , 1x32",2x 27" monitors
October 9, 20241 yr I have VoxATC and ProATCX, they have been replaced with FSHud. FSHud is pretty close to being all that I want for an ATC program. Best purchase I have made for P3D in a long time.

I suppose it depends how far out your STAR starts. In Europe they start fairly close to the airport. You MUST start your descent when instructed even if it’s before the ToD point in the CDU. 200fpm is the minimum to keep RC4 happy. The one altitude / FL you MUST adhere to is the final one that gets you down to the assigned altitude / FL 40 miles out. “I need you down in 30 miles or less”. At that point you can go with RC instructions (the default) or choose the alternative which I think is option 4. Your position will be monitored but no instructions issued. RC will then leave you alone until 7-8 miles out when you’ll be instructed to contact Tower. Thereafter both options converge. Ray (Cheshire, England). My problem with the default is the opposite. I don't get clearance to descend until some time after TOD in my flight plan and by then I'm chasing RNP with spoilers all the way down. I get the default is not good. Using FSHUD in msfs I like the 'descend when ready' command but is that realistic? Seems a little vague to me! Russell Gough SE London

The default has always been abysmal. Hence why RC4 was so successful and popular 20 years ago. You’ll never get that with RC. Ray (Cheshire, England). With the stock ATC, you have to manually request to descend when you're ready, usually about 150 miles out. You also have to ignore the heading instructions if you're flying a STAR. The vectoring is pretty bad even for a simple approach. It's definitely not 100% realistic, but it has its good points such as the realistic voices. If you get Editvoicepack, you can add new phraseology as well as a lot more airline names.
