October 19, 20241 yr Hi All! I have a bit of a weird problem. MSFS works fine under NVIDIA driver 31.0.15.5244 that is from 07/05/2024 using my RTX 4090 but whenever i try to update the driver it stops MSFS from starting. I then have to roll back to this driver again to make it boot up. Basically i go to start MSFS from Steam as normal and it says starting in steam but the EXE never starts. Any ideas? Thanks Matt
October 19, 20241 yr have you tried a clean install of the driver . you could use DDU if you dont already ? the date on that driver is a bit old. also have you got Gforce or Nvidia app installed ? October 19, 20241 yr Author Hi I tried uninstalling within device manager then reinstalling but that didnt work. I havent tried DDU... that might be worth a try. I have Geforce experience installed. Cheers M

Cheers M be careful in device manager doing that. make sure your bios and chipset is up to date download DDU watch a couple of videos first download latest from Nvidia , COMPLETLEY uninstall your driver and Gforce etc . install Graphics driver only then download the nvidia app its basically the same as gforce anyway .oh make sure your OS and MS app library are also bang up to date Edited October 19, 20241 yr by sonny147 ROG Crossair Hero X670e , 9900X, TUF 4090 , X4 NVME's. Thanks Matt There where some issues with the latest driver... I don't have experience with 552.44 WHQL, you could try a newer driver or previous ones... Unfortunately some drivers can have bugs. As for driver un installer I would indeed go with the advise above DDU (https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-uninstaller-download/) André
October 19, 20241 yr Author Unfortunately the DDU uninstall didn't work. Driver uninstalled successfully. Installed 2 different drivers to see if it was just the current one and the sim wont load again. The moment i restore back to pre driver uninstall it works..... So weird..... M

October 20, 20241 yr MSFS can be finicky about your windows display resolution being changed and then when MSFS starts to boot up a .cfg file of MSFS has another resolution recorded there which is different. Such as when in Windows Display Settings you change the scale and layout. It's a good idea to put MSFS into windowed mode before exiting MSFS. You can resize the MSFS display window as it boots and this works for me when Windows starts but I can't see it because it won't display. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. October 24, 20241 yr Not saying it can't happen, but I have changed Nvidia drivers dozens of times and never once saw a change in display settings.
