Will 2024 Servers Crash tomorrow?

Featured Replies

Do people think it will be playable for the first couple days, or wait it out?

I'm wondering if the servers are going to be slow for MSFS2020 over the next few days too or do MSFS have separate dedicated resources?

Ryzen 5800X3D, Nvidia RTX5080 - 32 Gig DDR4 RAM, 1TB & 2 TB NVME drives - Windows 11 64 bit MSFS 2024 Premium Deluxe Edition Resolution 2560 x 1440 (32 inch curved monitor)

Well, he is absolutely obsessed with Cats apparently, so that makes him a Cataholic.

As for the servers, just because of the initial downloads (even though it is supposed to be 'client light'), I suppose the effects of some form of bottleneck may still be seen.  Personally I am not even going to try it until next week, as I expect the weekend to be busy as well.
I look forward to seeing all of the reviews / first impressions though.

MSFS 2020 probably isn't even on the same physical servers that MSFS 2024 are on. They are both hosted on the Azure server network.  Azure is serving many companies around the world, the same way Amazon AWS serves companies around the world.

If you don't know what Azure is, you can start by looking up Amazon AWS and cloud computing. Here is a good introductory article to cloud computing: https://aws.amazon.com/what-is-cloud-computing/

If the servers crash for MSFS 2020, it probably means the entire Azure network crashed, and you will definitely hear about this in the news, as many companies would be affected by an Azure network crash. And MSFS 2020 + MSFS 2024 traffic is probably barely even a blip in the total Azure network traffic.

I've noticed that when the Azure servers crash around the world that the Government section always seems to remain up and running.

Yes.  Interesting that, isn't it?

I think it's more likely the AVSim servers won't be able to handle the additional traffic of a bunch of people complaining/raving about 2024.

It's pretty much assumed they are running some custom services that could get hung-up under load that have nothing to do with the network by itself. We will see.

Seriously does it really matter?

If you are worried wait a few days.

They run in separate Fed-Ramp Aisles so between FIPS-199 and IL2, 3, 4 and 5 classifications cloud providers and Fedramp certified have far more stringent requirements

Azure and DoD IL5

Microsoft maintains the following authorizations for Azure Government regions US Gov Arizona, US Gov Texas, and US Gov Virginia:

  • FedRAMP High provisional authorization to operate (P-ATO) issued by the FedRAMP Joint Authorization Board (JAB)
  • DoD IL2 PA
  • DoD IL4 PA
  • DoD IL5 PA

If you are deploying IL5 workloads in Azure Government regions US Gov Arizona, US Gov Texas, and US Gov Virginia, make sure you review Isolation guidelines for Impact Level 5 workloads for help with meeting DoD IL5 isolation requirements.

Azure Government has two additional regions, US DoD Central and US DoD East, that are reserved for exclusive use by the US Department of Defense. A separate DoD IL5 PA is in place for Azure Government DoD regions. For more information, see Department of Defense (DoD) in Azure Government.

For extra customer assistance, Microsoft provides the Azure Policy regulatory compliance built-in initiative for Azure Government, which maps to DoD IL5 compliance domains and controls:

"Will 2024 Servers Crash tomorrow?"

Yes

The main question is how big disgrace will be.

Nope. They will be fine. Come back here in a couple hours and see.
