November 19, 20241 yr I'm wondering if the servers are going to be slow for MSFS2020 over the next few days too or do MSFS have separate dedicated resources? As for the servers, just because of the initial downloads (even though it is supposed to be 'client light'), I suppose the effects of some form of bottleneck may still be seen. Personally I am not even going to try it until next week, as I expect the weekend to be busy as well. I look forward to seeing all of the reviews / first impressions though. MSFS 2020 probably isn't even on the same physical servers that MSFS 2024 are on. They are both hosted on the Azure server network. Azure is serving many companies around the world, the same way Amazon AWS serves companies around the world. If you don't know what Azure is, you can start by looking up Amazon AWS and cloud computing. Here is a good introductory article to cloud computing: https://aws.amazon.com/what-is-cloud-computing/ If the servers crash for MSFS 2020, it probably means the entire Azure network crashed, and you will definitely hear about this in the news, as many companies would be affected by an Azure network crash. And MSFS 2020 + MSFS 2024 traffic is probably barely even a blip in the total Azure network traffic. Edited November 19, 20241 yr by abrams_tank i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

November 19, 20241 yr I think it's more likely the AVSim servers won't be able to handle the additional traffic of a bunch of people complaining/raving about 2024.

It's pretty much assumed they are running some custom services that could get hung-up under load that have nothing to do with the network by itself. We will see.
