LIDO charts only cover airports requested by their customers.

Is that so? Would be nice to see what airports Navigraph has charts for and MSFS2024 doesn't. I seem to remember that someone said something similar and someone else replied that LIDO has MORE charts than Navigraph.

Good to see official MSFS folks getting involved here. Steep learning curve on this flight planner.

1. Is there a reason it makes you set your own cruising altitude? That is not really a preference value but a calculated value. Seems strange to start with that as the first step.

2. Shouldn’t it auto-determine departure and arrival runways based on METAR or ATIS?

3. Even when I load a PLN file, it doesn’t load the block fuel, cargo or passengers. Is this expected?

Based on a few attempts playing with it, this seems like it would be great for GA or VFR but are we limited to only using this to get important IFR flight planning data into the sim? So far I have not been able to do an actual simulated airline flight in 2024 either through the planner itself or by uploading a PLN which is a head scratcher. Appreciate all the hard work and look forward to future iterations!

I think the learning curve is mainly steep because it doesn't do as much as expected. It is a very basic planner, not an advanced one. You have to do most things manually. It looks advanced but it isn't, so to say. Maybe it'll get there one day...

I'm happy with the planner but the big issue for me is the EFB not working in VR.
That's a brilliant part of Navigraph and it's a hard stop for me for FS24 whilst it's not working...it's been accepted as a bug so hopefully will get fixed.

I also hope they will make changes stick. It seems the EFB resets to default everytime you restart the sim. The same goes for the G3000 btw (at least in the Vision Jet).

BTW I really was hoping the EFB but would a 3D item in the sim world, so one you could move around (or at least place) somewhere in the cockpit itself. But unfortunately it's just a pop up window...

I do have to add it pops up (and out of view) very quickly with the Tab key!

Well, I'd be happy to be proven wrong, but I don't know why a company which caters to the air carrier market would bother with most GA airports.  If someone has the sim installed and running (I'm waiting for the dust to settle before I install) I've got a great example you can check.  I recently flew in to Hot Springs SD (KHSR) on the southern edge of the Black Hills on a miserable IFR day.  KHSR features 2 IAP's and 2 SIDs.  Are these charts available in 2024?  They are in Navigraph, as are many, many other small airports with IAPs.  In fact, I've never found a US or Canadian airport which has a published procedure to not be covered by Navigraph/Jepp.

A further example of the air carrier target market is that LIDO approach plates ONLY publish info for categories C and D, leaving off A and B.  Cat A is Vref of 91 KTS or less, while Cat B is Vref of 91-121 KTS.

Basically GA type of airports that an airliner wouldn't normally fly into won't have charts.  Unless it's the USA (where WT has supplemental charts via the FAA for free), you won't get charts at smaller airports outside of USA.

My home town airport is fairly small and while the new planner doesn’t have an airport diagram, it did have the ils chart for it.

airport is KOPN if anyone wants an example to look at.

Interesting.  A large GA reliever airport here doesn't have any charts.  It's KFCM.  has 3 runways and 1 is 5000 ft and services many corporate jets and props.

EDIT: Just to be sure you're using LIDO charts and not FAA correct?

That is a bit surprising to me.

KOPN should feature 4 IAPs.  An RNAV RWY 12, and an ILS, RNAV and NDB for RWY 30.  Both RNAV's feature LPV.  The Navigraph chart set also includes an airport taxi diagram, though for such a simple airport this is hardly a showstopper.

BTW, can anyone tell me if the new charts are geo-referenced in the app as Navigraph charts are?

This was listed in the kneepad on the new flight planner so I assumed it was lido.

Like @ryanbatcsaid though any U.S. airport that has FAA charts is included as that data is available for free.

That isn't LIDO. It is the FAA data. Given the proximity pull up ATL and make sure LIDO is selected and you'll see the difference between LIDO and the FAA data.

Both the LIDO and FAA charts are georeferenced, yes.

Have anyone issue with weather overlays? Even if I ticked all boxes; cloud coverage and precipitation, are not shown on map. Can only see the wind barbs which are very sparse. Is something I do wrong?

You have to scroll out past a certain point and even then, they are faint. If you scroll in to far they disappear.

Edit: On a side note, I've been using simbrief and this planner in conjunction with one another. Simbrief for the plan and the new one so I can see the flight path on the EFB. Works pretty good for monitoring my flight.

We have had a few reports of issues with weather overlays for some users, disappearing when they should not, which we are looking into. Which browser are you on?

For wind barbs, we are looking to improve the resolution of the data in the future.
