How's 2024 running for you in Win11?

Featured Replies

Been holding off on upgrading because of the stupid WMR removal that would kill my Reverb, but I just ordered a new VR set so there's no real reason to stay on 10, unless performance would suffer. Anyone having problems? (Beyond what the rest of us are having by default, that is. 😉 )

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Windows 11 is the best Windows version up to now. W11 won't give you any problems: only MSFS2024 will. 😉

Framerate today in the mornig OK, now at night terrible = server issues or internet (500 Mbps)

Windows 11 / MSFS 2024 from MS-Store and Fenix A320

Smoothly...

I use RivaTuner to fix FPS on 30.

Working well since yesterday.

AMD Ryzen 7800x3d   64gb DDR5, Sapphire 7900 GPU MSSI Tomahawk AM5 M/Board. 1x 4tb Crucial M.2  SSD, 3x 2tb Crucial M.2 SSD's

For those who it's working fine, very happy for you.

This shows that how MSFS works is totally out of our control.

You can have a killer PC and unable to play with normal FPS due to online data issues.

Wonder if I see complains from the users who say all is well it's perfect now will still say this when they are getting issues like some of us have

I'm horrified by the GUI freezing every couple of minutes while I'm changing settings or setting up a flight. Once I'm in the sim, it's mostly perfect for me. I have Windows 11 Home, i5-13600KF, RTX 4060 Ti with 16 Gb Vram, 32 Gb Ram, 2560x1440, and use the US-West server. No photogrammetry since the trees still look like blobs, both LODs at 100, but everything is on Ultra except clouds on High and the shadow resolutions, which are second highest. I wasn't expecting my 60 fps from 2020. I set it at 30 fps in Nvidia Control Panel and it NEVER moves, even in the middle of London with heavy clouds or fog. No stutters at all, very smooth even looking left out my left window, which has usually looked choppy at 30 fps since the days of FSX. I haven't even tried DLSS, haven't felt like I need it right now. I do get an occasional screen freeze where the sound goes out, which I attribute to the server issues, happens maybe once an hour at most. None of the scenery tiles popping in and out like 2020, no glitchy shore lines or mountain sides. One weird scenery glitch at the Cliffs of Dover where one copy of the cliffs are elevated above another (please vote: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/floating-cliffs/668410). For those trying to play at 4k resolution, it might help to turn down your settings or limit your fps. I just hope all the complaints I'm seeing about frame rates don't prompt Asobo to dumb it down with the optimization again like they did with MSFS 2020. I love the details on the ground, rocks, flowers, grasses, and millions of trees, and would NOT want to see that go away. I've even gotten out of the cockpit after flights and walked around meadows and forests, very relaxing to look around and hear those footsteps. NEVER thought I would enjoy that. For those having issues, I'm truly sorry. Hopefully they can get the server issues fixed and everyone can enjoy this sim.
