November 26, 20241 yr My first 4 days were horrible. I couldn't fly 5 min without a crash to desktop. It turns out I had a ram compatibility issue created by myself. Anyway, once I switched the memory the crashing stop. Over the weekend I spent about 16 hours playing around with 2024. At the start I was frustrated with the controller setup and setting. By Sunday afternoon I was really enjoying 2024. I personally think the state of 2024 is ahead of 2020 at its release. I'm not concerned over any refund. I think that's very premature. I also understood from my previous 30+ years in this hobby that every new simulator needs a minimum 6 months to mature from release. Remember MS removed it's self from our hobby for a very long time. So I am grateful for a new version. I have full confidence they will deliver a spectacular simulator in the coming year. So for me it's a than you Asobo/MS. November 26, 20241 yr In general, I feel like I'm living in a parallel universe when it comes to 2024. I obviously have some gripes with it but the amount of issues people have been having, I can't recognize whatsoever. Even on launch night, following the launch thread here, I was one of the first ones in, though I still had the lengthy load of course. Streaming has been smooth, every plane, object and piece of scenery has streamed in beautifully. I've had no crashes or instability, performance has been absolutely amazing, better than 2020. Fast loading, lots of QoL features added, visually it's better, overall it has just been a very positive experience. So when you read post after post that it's basically unflyable, the worst launch ever, nothing works and people who don't even own it say it's basically garbage, I scratch my head. I might have gotten priority access to their servers. I don't like to post this because it is not really helpful to come in after someone says their sim is unplayable and just say "mine is working great." However, with the exception of the first day, where I could not even get on, my experience has been top notch. It is still vanilla so things like load times will change as I install add-ons but I load consistently in 1 minute and 50 seconds, it is smooth, it streams very well - and my connection is a measly 50 mbs - the ground textures and lighting are a huge step forward and both the ground and flight dynamics seem to have been substantially improved over 2020. I am really enjoying the experience! Yes, there are all kinds of issues, the night lighting is terrible seems to be one most people agree on, the absence of the marketplace and ability to download and install our addons is not really acceptable if you ask me, but the rest of my "issues" are largely subjective preferences -- I don't like the screen-change animations; I have not got used to the new keyboard layout nor the control options, etc. 2024 is years ahead of where 2020 is when it launched, it will I think rapidly shape up to be a sound and engaging platform! November 26, 20241 yr I made a commitment to 2024 by going all in and removing 2020. I was right there on Tuesday at the very minute and started downloading like clockwork. I left for work. Came back several hours later only to find the whole thing was in a meltdown. Complaints and streams of frustration and anger. I tried the second day. No go. By the third day I got it and then there was the periodic hangups. But here I am several days later and I've already taken several flights with the 330, Max, and then amazingly Fenix. Interspersed with GA flying in some beautiful sceneries. Now of course there's no looking back. It was running everything fine except 2024.
