December 6, 20241 yr I'm very happy with my MSFS 2020 installation, including a lot of addons. But of course, I would also like check out the 2024 version (on a separate drive). In the past I read some scary posts about conflicts between both versions on the same system. Is there, in the meantime, a consensus that it will not have bad consequences for the "old one"? Thanks for your experiences!
December 6, 20241 yr There are Zero consequences. Everything 2024 is in its own little directory away from 2020.
December 6, 20241 yr Have both installed on the same drive and have had no issues up to now. Use 2020 when I want to do some serious flying without issues and am using 2024 to learn it's settings and nuances as the improvements come along. Use 2020 when I want to do some serious flying without issues and am using 2024 to learn it's settings and nuances as the improvements come along. A good way to aid the gradual transition. I boot into 2020 to see the curve profile for my throttles for a given aircraft and tried to replicate that with it in 2024. Also a copy and paste scenery addons from the 2020 community folder to the 2024 community folder two at a time to check compatibility.
December 6, 20241 yr I'm using Addons Linker for scenery, aircraft and FSLTL/AIG to test compatibility, makes life easy. For instance when I added FSLTL and AIG the loading times went up as if I was using MSFSF2020! So now only load them when using BATC. Only disappointment with the curve profiler in MSFS2024 is that it does not visualise the position of the Joystick for instance, so not sure if even centred correctly. Step backwards from MSFS2020. I [also] strongly suggest using Addons Linker to help with migrating all your addons. I set up new 2024-specific folders on my HD and only move (or add) only what I find works without issues. I set up YES/NO/Partial tags in Linker to help. Any issues found I put in the "Description" field. Edited December 6, 20241 yr by Adamski_NZ
