So after a week of troublefree operation, I now am back to where I started 2 weeks ago. I was able to use FSLTL base to fly on VATSIM, FSUIPC installed properly so I could use ACARS flying for my VA. My Blacksquare Taxiways worked fine. Was even able to add on a couple of LatinVFR airports. All of these were in the Community folder and have worked ok for the last week. Logged on this morning to find it needed to update, and it did. Logged back on to fly and it crashed as soon as i pressed start to fly. Also noticed my weather and graphics settings changed. I had all AI traffic turned off, but the update turned AI traffic back on. So I emptied everything out of the community folder, and it still crashes as soon as I press start flight. I ended up having to reinstall the game last week and that seemed to fix the problem. Am I going to have to reinstall again? That's my next step, right? This is so frustrating.

So I reinstalled. No help. Here's the error message when it crashes.

Also the game will not save my settings. For example, I'll set my aliasing to TAA, exit the game, then reload. Aliasing is back to the NVIDIA DLss Super Res. Is there something forcing the game to load this way, no matter what I set. I read somewhere that the Nvidia driver loads what it sees as optimum. I'm at a total loss now. Will Microsoft issue me a refund if I want one?

Could be the new nvidia app... read the other posts..

Definitely caused by the new Nvidia app which replaces the old GeForce experience app. This new app is able to optimize the MSFS settings if you enable the auto update. If you disable this feature, your settings will remain the way you set them.

Unfortunately I am about 75% of the way to just uninstalling 2024 and going back to 2020. I have had 7 crashes in the last 2 days, I guess since the patch, and there is also more stutter. I still cannot access my Marketplace content. I really like this sim, it looks so much better than 2020 and the flight characteristics seem to be better, not to mention the ground model. But, there are just so many issues, compatibility, stutters, crashes. I am going to try to keep working with it for a few more days -- I absolutely dread the prospect of redownloading 2020 and reinstalling Accuseason, and everything else. But I want to actually fly over the holidays and that does not look too promising in 2024 at the moment.

 

FS 2024 reminds me of IKEA furniture. You spend 8 hours following the cryptic picture instructions and just when you finally get to step 75 and your beautiful new wardrobe is ready, you realize that you used the wrong bolts back in step 2, and you have to start all over again. If not, every time you open the wardrobe doors, they will fall off.
