Thumbs up for the tools from Herve Sors

It is only for a year ago that I've heard about Herve Sors and his website Flight Simulator Aircraft Dynamics and NavData

I have installed ORBX TE Netherlands and several small GA Airfields from NL-2000 – The Netherlands 2000 Scenery I live near EHHV in the middle of the country. The EHHV scenery from NL2000 resembles reality very good. So do their other airfields. And it blends nicely with ORBX TE. A few years ago at EHHV the 13/31 grass runway was changed to 12/30 due to magnetic variation. In p3d 5.4 still 13/31. I know it can be changed with ADE, but the tool Airport Inspector and Editor from Herve does the job very quick. Just a few mouseclicks and job is done; no need to compile.  Now P3D uses the right RWY. There are no runway numbers on the grass in reality, so not necessary to change scenery. Which is a more complex job. Very happy with this tool.

Well this might be very obvious for the most of you, but I thought I let it know here for visitors who are not familiar with the tools from Herve.

Another fan of Herve's work in supporting P3D. Whilst you have to request a link to the v5 tools once you have it it's extremely useful.

I don't use grass runways but find the utility extremely useful for changing ILS IDs which change from time to time and with Aivlasoft's EFB using r/w data the two have to match. Herve's tool allows that and then by using Pete Dowson's MakeRunways the updated data can be output for use by Radar Contact. 👏

Once very good reason to stay with P3D since I don't think these tools are available for MSFS in either guise.

I see what you mean. It's a shame that Herve ends with updating the navigational data. But I respect his decision and I am thankfull for what he has done for the community.

I’ve just read his announcement and it’s very disappointing. I did try making a donation this year but the software wasn’t allowing it.

It’s all well and good moving to MSFS but who keeps that data current? I can’t imagine it’s high on Asobo’s list given the work they need to do on the latest sim.

People are getting old and it seems the next generation aren’t picking up the baton. 😟

Navdata? Asobo themselves: there's an MSFS update every cycle change day. But honestly, I don't see Asobo updating runway identifiers, markings and lighting unless an airport is fortunate enough to be included in a World Update.

If people use the default airports rather than 3rd party that will become an issue. Third party developers will probably update theirs.

Really sad to learn hat 😞

I was totally unaware until today ...

Sign of "the times"...

Hervé is a friend I know for long, since the times of fs9 and our interactions with yet another great contributor to the study of the "internals" of MSFS - Ron Freimuth.

He even visited LPCS in his private aircraft once !

I wrote to Herve at his sors email address and it bounced back to me. So then I tried his google email and that too bounced back.

Seems we can no longer contact him which is very sad.

At-first, you need a download link. At the moment, only the World FSX/P3D Package 2412 R-1 is available.

Hervé provided a link privately to the v5 data to those who requested it via email. For reasons unknown he never made it public on his website. PM me if you want it.

Yeah Ray, I thought so too, but I need an update for P3D v4.5
