December 30, 20241 yr Finally installed my pre purchased copy of MSFS2024 this weekend. Wanting to ensure that the sim was configured properly (installed on its own E: drive NVME, Cache & Community in custom directories on the same drive ) i briefed myself with a video or two and went ahead with the install. The installation process was smooth and the customization wasn't too bad to complete. Server performance was good for the installation and got my custom folders up and running. Cant complain. Set up my GPU framegen and applied my usual gpu overclock to the game profile which was auto detected by my graphics card driver. Works no issue .. great! (Thank You AMD!) Startup i would say is in the same realm as my FS2020 startup but once i've selected my flight and hit fly now that part is faster (Again.. light aircraft and mid level airport) not bad. We all know the lighting, ground control and general flight characteristics have been improved and i enjoyed it immensely. After that was done i tested a few aircraft to see how the streaming system worked. Mind you i stayed well clear of the major airports for these tests. Looks like the servers are finally serving (as opposed to my prior experience with the dumpster fire tech alpha) With one exception .. some pop up about the AI servers not working every few minutes .. AI is working though .. even possibly too much ai plus ai in the wrong places. Again the controllers and its setup was the primary sore point this weekend. The interface to get these bindings done suck ... cant say it any other way. Anyways, once that surgery was done i can see myself using this sim for some nice GA ops. I want to try career mode but i don't want to be disappointed with people sticking out of planes and the other meme style bugs that come with it so i think ill stick to free flight till SU1 before i start that mode. But yeah .. free flight + General Aviation seems to be the safest combination for me right now. The new flight model / visuals and wx improvements are worth it. Still doing my commercial /cargo ops in MSFS2020 though. I need that stable platform for my sanity but i definitely will be moving the Comanche over to the new sim. Looking forward to see how quickly MSOBO are able to squash bugs and deliver relative stability. Also looking forward to see AIG + GAIST traffic and the PMDG products in the sim. I think those are my requirements to start doing heavy ops in the new sim even though i can use the Fenix products and Inibuilds A300 now For me who primarily flies the tubeliners i feel as if we aren't quite "cooking with gas" yet but its certainly on its way. (When the server is serving of course) Just a few observations and comments i wanted to share Cheers AMD Ryzen 9800X3D/ Asus ROG Strix B650E F Gaming WiFi / Asrock Taichi 9070XT / 32GB G.Skill Trident Z5 Neo DDR5 6000 / 2x ADATA XPG 8200 Pro NVME / Arctic Liquid Freezer II 280 / Seasonic Vertex 1000w PSU / Lian Li LanCool II Mesh Performance / Asus VG34VQL3A / Topping E70 Velvet DAC & L70 Amp /Sennheiser HD660s2 Thrustmaster Boeing Yoke + TCA Sidestick + TFRP Rudders

Works like a charm. I think others are using BATC with FSLTL successfully, but I'm not 100% sure as I don't use this combo. 7950X3D | RTX 4090 | 64GB DDR5

Just steer clear of Career Mode for maybe one or two Sim Updates, depending on how tolerant you are of bugs. Even after Sim Update 1, there will still be some bugs in Career Mode. If you are really intolerant of bugs, you may have to wait until Sim Update 3 or so, before Career Mode is really on a good track. Personally, I played about 10 flights with Career Mode and I am okay with the bugs that I encountered, but then again, I am more bug tolerant than other simmers here at Avsim. To prevent the data from being streamed a second time, you can also expand your rolling cache. If you have the space, I think setting even 40 GB for Rolling Cache is okay, as it may prevent the data from being streamed the second time you fly over an area you flew over before (but of course, you can't prevent the data from being streamed the first time you fly over it). i5-12400, RTX 3060 Ti, 32 GB RAM

Im sure they work great but its not the aircraft that im most concerned about. The most responsible and dependable aircraft devs will take care of their products and ensure everything is working and stable. Its the other factors im concerned about outside of their control. primarily for now the AI aircraft and ships ATC and how well the airports are modelled in the sim. Tons of airports to fly in and out of so meh i can let that one go if i encounter a few bad ones but the AI for me is a showstopper. Asobos models look decent but flight and taxi logic, airline placement etc needs to be completely trashed and redone. I also wonder if they have improved on the gates placement at airports. I have also not touched the ATC as yet so i cannot comment on that to see if it has improved. I am hoping we can still get the bog standard AIG TC working in the new sim though. The new flight model / visuals and wx improvements are worth it. This is pretty much how I have been using the sim over the past couple of weeks, now that I had a little more time, and I agree at this level it is working very well. Free flight in a GA aircraft has worked very well, and the sim has been quick to load, no blurriness and no crashes, it has been remarkably stable. The three aircraft I have used are the Comanche, the 414 and the COWS DA42, so no streamed aircraft. I decided to completely ignore any of the career and mission stuff, it never interested me all that much anyway, and I have not done any heavy operations, as I do not want at this stage to introduce all the supplementary tools that I would want to do perform that kind of flying. I have kept it simple and am trying to learn what works and at what level and so far I am impressed. The next thing to tackle is to get rid of the AI traffic and replace it with FSLTL, because I am getting tired of all the B737 parked at small airstrips and crashing into gliders taxing off the runway! December 30, 20241 yr Yes AI is not great at all but with BATC it’s great. I know buying more software is a pain, but in this case I do make an exception since it really does work great and $30 one time is really worth it for what you get. I do share your hope that they fix the native AI fast, but I’m not waiting for that. Fenix and the ini planes work great so I’m covered for non-Boeing airline ops.
