I wish it weren’t so.  I plan to hang on to P3Dv6.1 until MSFS hopefully matures a bit more.  If LM releases something new down the road that isn’t priced beyond reach, hopefully Pro-Sim and/or Jeehell FMGS will support it.  That is the ideal outcome I wish for.

I don't know what to conclude about the potential LM interest in consumer market (if we can call it this way). I mean, since P3Dv1 they already weren't really forced to release anything for the general public. Yet they did, up until v6. So I don't really see why they wouldn't release a v7 in the exact same way.

Now, when it comes to what the simulator content is going to be, we're all in the complete dark here. Yes they did present something based on a new engine some time ago, but was it something related to P3D ? We'll have to wait to v7 to know. We were already expecting it for v6 and it didn't happen, though...

I recall reading an interview with the product manager for P3D in which he seemed to indicate that, due to the millions of users they “inherited” from the Microsoft product, they felt some sense of obligation to the community to not just cut off access.  MSFS 2020 didn’t exist as an alternative.  However, that will not be the case for a future release from LM.  The landscape has changed dramatically from the early days of P3D.  LM will not be self-constrained by any feelings of goodwill to the consumer sim community.

Yes, I think that is correct. The value of LM's goodwill to the consumer sim community should be compared to LM's total annual revenue below ($52.23 bn that 'b' is not a typo):

Oh ? I thought we shouldn't talk about other sims anymore ? 🙂 Then I misunderstood; thanks a lot for your confirmation above. I will then proceed in talking about MSFS when somebody says something wrong just to discriminate other simmers.

P3Dv4, XPlane12, MSFS2020 and DCS. All in VR. MSFS 2024 is installed, but not used much for now. Granted, I'm in the starting blocks for replacing completely my old computer with modern hardware.

Now please explain us how this contributes to identifying what sim one is interested in ? Please explain us how that makes our comment valid or not ? 

For info, I'm also interested in Facon 4 BMS although I have never used it (yet, I'm waiting for 4.38). I'm also interested in Condor and read things about it, but not planning to buy it. I must be forgetting a few...

Hmm I would need to check the timelines again so I'm not 100% sure, but I remember they declared something like that in the past, and it was valid up to P3Dv5. However, V6 was released well beyond the MSFS release, so they had already lost the FSX customers at that moment. Yet they released the sim anyways. Then I thought their professional market was enough to drive them forward, which could lead to a v7 being released in close future.

That being said, the lack of updates for the v6 since one year seems to tell the opposite, so I don't know what to think about this 😕

I don`t know but you don`t appear to a great deal of input in the MSFS forums, yet you have a lot to say about the future of P3D. The good news you're not forced to buy it.

There are flightsim users still using P3D v4 v5 v6 and some still using FSX. I see no problem with that not everyone can afford the hardware to run some newer versions, and they have invested a lot of time and effort into making it just as they want it. And not forced to update it.

Hear we try to help those having problems in P3D if we can.

Nobody is forced to update, we all use the sims that we like or at least the ones that we can run on our hardware.

Our discussion here was about hoping for a P3D v7 to appear with as much nice new features (functionalities and graphic improvements) as possible, not about hoping to see other/older sims disappear...

Time will tell but look before you buy. For me it will be a buy.

I did, and you told me to post elsewhere.  Someone posted blatantly false information, and you told me to post over in the other thread.

Maybe people who don't know what sim to get for "serious" simming see that and miss out on MSFS because it's being said here that it's not "serious" when indeed it is.

Perhaps you should come down on people posting the lies, instead of us pointing them out.

What does PDK mean to you?

Do you know what CIGI means in P3D?

Do you know what features are still missing in MSFS that are in P3D?

Do you like melted post apocalyptic world?

Is weather depiction important to you?

Are flight physics important to you?

Do you think it’s good or bad that you can land a 747 at St. Barts?

Do you know what Lockheed Martin do in the non-simulated world?
