P3D V6 also supports SSAO and TAA

I've tried the SSAO and don't see enough difference or improvement in the scenery to make it worthwhile.

I tried TAA and it works well, but is causes the horizon scenery to jitter and bounce, which is weird.  I also frequently lost my internet connection when it was enabled - odd, I know.  8X MSAA work well for me.

Sounds like you have a hacked version, jitter issue was beta only report and dropping internet connection would be a result of a hack trying to circumvent LMs phone home copy protection.

Given Dave’s long standing in AvSim I doubt he would install a hacked version of v6. It sounds more like his internet connection was faulty causing problems given one of the requirements for v6 is a continuous internet connection.

You should give more thought when accusing someone of having an illegal copy.

P3D V7 will do just fine with or without 3rd party support.

Secured $11.76 Billion for aircraft per article here.  More aircraft = more training = more funding for simulation software.  MS/Asobo simulation budget is microscopic relative to what Lockheed Martin have available.  I’m thinking P3D V7 will be taken to a new level.

Sigh,...they've already addressed this.

LM will keep supporting P3D because of it's installed mil/com/gov base and the extensive multi-domain, multi-PLAYER training for IRL ecosystems built around it. NOT because they can shoehorn in features to make it look like IRL.

They are also branching out with it into other areas. Ironically, a year or so ago they were showing how they can feed real-time data to it to provide live visualization to IRL Command/Control facilities for wildfire fighting. IIRC, they were also looking at predictive modeling to assist with same.

The govt / mil space is moving to simulators with realistic world depictions, e.g., NOR. And LM have stated (and have even shown screen shots) they're developing a NEW sim along similar lines.

P3D as we know it is a legacy product, especially for consumer use.

Would I like to see a v7, V8, et al...? Sure, but I'm not willing to continue buying into a sim where there's only a decreasing handful of Hi Fi add-ons that are updated and supported in those versions. A2A Sims, PMDG, MilViz/BBS, et al, stopped at v5, and AFAIK only Majestic and VRSimulations have released Hi Fi add-ons specifically supporting v6.

Prepar3D is a fine simulator for any use. But it's been eclipsed for consumer use, and is gradually being so for Professional use as well.

No, I purchased it from LM and have a valid license.

I'm using v6.1 and see the jitters when using any of the temporal AA, so it's not just a beta issue.  I had to stop using temporal AA as it caused my internet connection to disconnect.  It was bizarre and I did report it to LM.  Clearly there's something peculiar to my system that causes this as I haven't seen anyone else report it.  I tried updating and rolling back drivers, checking for malware, and reinstalled v6, all to no avail.  I don't have this problem with any other software that requires an internet connection including games.

Is P3D setup to run as administrator and been excluded for your AV. Windows AV can be a problem with programs that need NET connection.

Have to say given the frustration around MSFS 2024, the uncertainty going forwards and the similarity between 2020 and P3D SDKs it is probably the best time for P3D to become a consideration again. If you are, say, PMDG and hyper-focused on being realistic... do you really care that much about the consumer market of casual flyers? They seemed to make a decent living with the "niche" hobbyist for many years before MSFS existed...

They absolutely do, considering how much they outsell all the old versions on their MSFS products.

But one thing I did notice is many developers are not targeting any serious flight simmers anymore

What are you talking about?

There's never been a better time to be a serious simmer, and it's because of MSFS.

Leonoardo, Fenix, PMDG, FSLabs, JustFlight, etc.... I could go on, they all deliver fantastic, BETTER products than you got in P3D, with PMDG finally supporting RF legs, etc...

You can talk about P3D all you want, and it's definitely NICHE these days, but saying things like that about MSFS is blatantly false.

This is the P3D forum. If you prefer MSFS just post there.

Perhaps people who are new to simming are reading these remarks and getting the wrong impression.  I'm not allowed to say bad things about P3D here, but people can lie about MSFS?

I don’t care what people say about MSFS. Most who post in this forum probably feel the same as they’re happy with the sim of their choice. Why are you here if you’re not interested in P3D?

Considering that there have been no updates or even hot fixes to v6.1 for nearly a year now, since February 2024, I think it’s safe to say that ongoing development on any current or future version of P3D is dead.  That doesn’t mean LM isn’t developing an all-new simulator.  I’d be shocked if they weren’t.  But to think it would be an evolutionary step from P3D is probably wrong.  It is in my mind also highly uncertain that it would be released and priced in a way that would support consumer flight simulation.  There is no reason for them to support this market for any purpose other than perhaps to support technical education and encourage a new generation of LM employees.

I wish it weren’t so.  I plan to hang on to P3Dv6.1 until MSFS hopefully matures a bit more.  If LM releases something new down the road that isn’t priced beyond reach, hopefully Pro-Sim and/or Jeehell FMGS will support it.  That is the ideal outcome I wish for.

Perhaps you should, since fake information (a.k.a. "trolling") leads conversations in an undesirable direction ?

Being happy with the sim of your choice doesn't mean you can spread fake news and other uneducated guesses at other sims.

Who are you to declare we are not interested in P3D ? This is getting ridiculous.
