I've seen many screenshots from P3Dv5 which were marginally better than P3Dv4 (mainly thanks to the disappearance of infamous 2D clouds), but I have yet to see any P3Dv6 screenshot that actually looks good. My previous comment about "permanent solar eclipse" tells a lot about how I feel about the few P3Dv6 screenshots and videos I've seen so far 😕

January 8, 20251 yr Well that's not very convincing, is it ? But yes, at least these ones don't look like a solar eclipse for sure, so it's something... But is that really better than P3Dv5 ? EDIT: well, I just went through a P3Dv5 screenshots topic at SOH, and yes indeed, your screenshots above have much more luminosity than the few P3Dv5 shots I've looked in there, so the assertion about P3Dv6 lighting being superior to the one of P3Dv5 looks true. I had not realised how sad P3Dv5 looked until now 😕 But to be fair, my P3Dv4 looked better mostly because I was using TomatoShade... if I look at my screens from before the TomatoShade era, they don't look very colorful either. I have both V5 & V6 installed and anytime I boot up V5 I am instantly reminded how inferior it's lighting / shading (and this is with all TOGA offerings installed) is compared to V6. V5 looks dead and 'cartoonish' in comparison to V6. I have been saying this from day one of using V6. Edited January 8, 20251 yr by Sparkrite

It's when you're flying around that you can see them. For example, more realistic reflections off water, better light and bloom effects, etc. Then there's the improved performance - much less stuttering and MSAA 8X anti-aliasing that is quite good and better than in v4 & v5 IMO. The temporal AA in v6 looks good but creates weird side effects like the horizon bouncing - it needs work. The flight planner also works better than the one in v5. January 8, 20251 yr Author P3D V7 will do just fine with or without 3rd party support. Secured $11.76 Billion for aircraft per article here. More aircraft = more training = more funding for simulation software. MS/Asobo simulation budget is microscopic relative to what Lockheed Martin have available. I’m thinking P3D V7 will be taken to a new level.

That looks really nice! as a P3D V4.5 user I skipped version 5 bit concerned about VRAM though as i only have a 8GB card i run at 1080P is it easy to get addons desgined for V4/5 to work in V6? i take its fine to have V4 and V6 installed at same time?
