January 7, 20251 yr Im in the market for a graphics card replacement but the 16gb or VRAM is an issue and i don't have 2 grand for a 5090. Currently happy with my current card for MSFS2020 but MSFS2024 is where its starting to show signs of age. Kind of sucks .. the RX9070 foolishness amd is looking to release is still 16gb and looks to be not much faster than a 4070 and finally it looks like the 5080 is feasible with a more refined implementation of dlss/framgegen only for them to slap 16GB again on this card. for the Vram issue alone both these cards are disappointing. I think im going to go used for my next GPU and call it a day for a year or two and see what shakes out. I am planning to keep my 4090 until someone shows me a similar fps increase and smooth frame times we saw going from a 3090 to RTX 4090. and I doubt that will happen anytime soon since MSFS 2024, unlike most other popular games relies too much on non graphics features that need to be adressed by Asobo first. otherwise I am afraid we will see really bad frame times, with fps fluctuating between 30 fps while waiting for AI traffic and server data to then temporarily going up to MultiFrameGenerated 180 fps. there is a reason Nvidia demoed MultiFrameGenerated Cyperpunk et al. at 200 fps and not MSFS 2024. I would usually check in on a computer focused website Hardforum/Anandtech for sale forums and go with a seller with heat (established trading reputation). I'm keeping mine till I do a full rig upgrade later in 2025 or 2026, but if I already had the latest and greatest CPU etc, I would likely sell mine. On the other hand, the 4090 is just SO good that it makes it hard to get rid of. I mean, sure the 5090 will give you 200 fps, but if you're already getting 100 fps on a 60 hz monitor, not sure going to 200 will make much difference in a slow game like MSFS (as opposed to a twitch shooter). After a certain point it's just diminishing marginal utility. 9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen

January 8, 20251 yr I assume the DLSS nvidia drivers will be available on Jan 30th , then MSFS/MSFS2024 patches closely following since Nvidia must drop $$$ to Asobo to do that. The big question I have is if the extra AI core of the 50xx series make a difference in the image quality of the non-multi-frame-gen feature versus a 40xx card. I am happy now with my msfs2024/rtx4080/amd7950x3d ~60-90 fps with FG using AutoFPS. Tried LossLessScaling on top of that, but found it usless , since LossLess does take out CPU usage. But maybe nirvana would be a 5080 with 3x FG having CONSTANT 120fps and constant frametime...
