January 24, 20251 yr So Damian at HiFiSim/ASFS has identified a pretty nasty bug with MSFS winds and I just confirmed it myself. Wondering if others see it as well. When winds go above 149kts it seems like they drop out entirely causing massive issues with overspeed, altitude deviations or even causing the aircraft to lose speed and almost stall. I'm in the PMDG 777 right now and had the wind limiter in ASFS set to 149 but wanted to see what would happen if I cranked it to 250 (limit not wind) to see if I could leverage the 160 kt tail winds. Unfortunately as soon as it notched above 150 all the winds cut out, plane went into a massive overspeed, alarms going off everywhere so went back into ASFS, set the wind limits to 149 and flight resumed as normal. So is there genuinely an upper level winds bug above 149kts? Does MSFS drop the winds above 149? I'm still doing 640 kts across the ground but some planes in R/L are breaking 750 kts with the Jetstream right now and MSFS doesn't seem to support the really strong upper level winds. If I don't limit to 149 all heck breaks loose. Kinda bummed I can't take full advantage Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
January 24, 20251 yr Does it happen with default weather too, I mean, when not using ASFS ? I should know but I had a problem with my install and still have to reinstall ASFS... He has already reported it apparently and he isn't complaining, to the contrary when users reported issues he identified the bug causing it and put out a workaround. January 24, 20251 yr Did you test it with default weather injection? Does it still behave the same way?

I have to find live weather with a jetstream above 149 kts again to confirm... Winds right now are only 86kts so I am watching them closely and if I catch the 150+ kt winds again I will flip to live weather. I'm not restarting a 10 hour flight 3 hours in to test though 😉 Have a Wonderful Day -Paul Solk
January 24, 20251 yr I wonder if this has something to with an issue I have been having lately? I will be flying along and all is well and all of a sudden a very violent wind shift happens. My airspeed will drop to almost nothing my AP will kick off and all of a sudden I am in a flat spin. It seems to be more of a problem lately and I don't remember it being so bad in the past. Could just be a winter winds thing. I do use Active Sky combined with RealTurb. Another issue is in FS2024 at least the turbulence can get so severe bad things start to happen. FS2020 does not seem as bad!

I have not had any wind shifts since I moved to the latest beta but like you prior to that it was happening a few times on each transatlantic hop and yes, there were a few times I actually had to nose down and recover from a stall and one or two times I ended up on an Island with Wilson because I couldn't recover LOL...
