February 25, 20251 yr Here's default c185 view after hitting F to reset the view. And there is no way to use the "translate" or "look" keyboard keys to get a view to see over the cockpit dash to the runway better. It can't be done. ======== But after text editing the cameras.cfg file to something I like more and see the runway: The bottom two lines I edited in my cameras.cfg file that gives this view is: its the only way to get a view of the runway from the C-185 cockpit. I take it you can't change the viewpoint and save Ifr /vfr views with ctrl f9 /10 like in 2020? Russell Gough SE London

You can also export the project into a package and put that into your community folder. Thanks Matt. Just to be clear, are you saying that you CAN open, say, a flight model cfg file that normally appears encrypted, edit it then save it into the community folder (presumably with an updated Layout Json etc? And that edited file will now act as a current/over-ride cfg file even with non locally saved, cloud based aircraft? Just as in MSFS 2020, any file in community will overwrite any other file in the VFS, no matter the package source (encrypted, streamed, both, neither).

So when you hit Shift-Q or Shift-E, the camera doesnt' move? Or are you saying it does move, but then it snaps back to the default when you change the views, and you need it set to this by default? 9800X3d, 4090, 64 GB DDR5 6000 RAM, 4 TB NVME (2x2), 4K Ultra + Framegen

But it does not move enough to see over the dash. I can't imagine why Carenado set up the camera views like that. What I did was to text edit the camera.cfg file to move the camera up to what I knew would be a ridiculously high point, and then boot up msfs 2024 and move the camera down to a good position (shift q) and save it as a custom view. Next I went back into camera.cfg file and removed the ridiculously high camera lines, leaving only the nice view camera lines that I had just created as a custom view in camera.cfg file. 5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. At the extreme limit the camera is still way too low to see over the dashboard. So you can't create a good custom view enabling you to see. But it is simple although time consuming by editing the .cfg file. But then it's done. I always assigned my custom views to numlock keys 0 through 9 in every flight simulator going back in time. EDIT: There is no limit on camera position in the .cfg file. You can make a view 20 feet above the top of the plane if you wanted to. February 25, 20251 yr I just don't understand the 2024 file system, maybe I just need to look into it more. Also, why the heck did they get rid of the "quick reload" in dev mode, when I create my mods in 2020 I use that religiously to check my changes, now the only way to check (in 2024) is a complete sim re start, that is extremely inefficient and basically kills modding. February 25, 20251 yr Ok, silly question, but some of you seem to have figured it out so I'll ask. How do you get said C-185? Marketplace still doesn't work in 2024, and I am not seeing it in my 2020 files that can be loaded. Are those of you that already have it simply part of the Beta and thus have early access to it?
