MSFS 2020 three CTDs in two days.

Featured Replies

Since yesterday, I have had three CTDs when starting MSFS 2020, and I have had two CTDs in the last three and a half years, so something changed. The only thing I did was update the FSLTL AI and install the Brazil scenery. I suspect it was one or the other. I am going to try to uninstall the Brazil scenery, and if that doesn't cure it, it must be something in the FSLTL, which I am not sure how to fix.

If you haven't actually flown in Brazil, I doubt it's the WU. I'd rather delete and reinstall the FSLTL liveries.

  • It looks like uninstalling and reinstalling FSLTL fixed the problem. On my fifth flight now, and back to being rock solid.

  • If it was a server issue then a lot more than one person would have been complaining about 10 CTD's in a day and a half.  I've flown almost daily 10-14 hour flights the entire time you were dealing wi

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

I'd lean toward FSLTL as a possible culprit. I have not updated FSLTL in a long time. The primary reason is that I have a working sim and I don't need more airplanes or liveries. I prefer a stable sim.

So far no CTDs while flying in WU19.

I also think it was FSLTL. I didn't realize how easy it was to uninstall and reinstall. Will report back the results.

I started having CTDs after the last MSFS update.

So, might not have anything to do with FSLTL.

Well it looks like I jumped the gun.  I had uninstalled the Brazil WU,  at the same time I had reinstalled FSLTL.  I just reinstalled the Brazil update,  then flying in Brazil after I did that, and another CTD about 1/2 way through the flight.  Going to uninstall Brazil and leave it off.

Nice but  I would suggest taking a break from the computer/sim overall for a while first. That is exactly what I do when get frustrated with a program I have not much control over. Its overall good for the health and overall mind.

First CTD in more than a year. Right after the FSLTL update. Coincides with WU19, but I've had no more issues since disabling FSLTL.

I tried uninstalling Brazil, and did one flight which was OK. Will keep testing, if it CTDs again, it may be in fact FSLTL. It has to be one or the other.

I decided last night, to use my Macrium backup, to replace the updated FSLTL with a backup from last month and see what happens. If it is in fact a problem with the latest update of FSLTL base, that should solve my CTD issue.

I'm starting to become skeptical of this FSLTL update. Normally the update is pain free, usually completes in a couple of minutes but I've been at this for a few hours now. On my first attempt I got an error message saying there wasn't enough space for the update even though its on a big disk and I'm on my second full download again. Once I'm into the sim and do the WU I'll report back, Bob.

I flew 3+ hours with the non updated version of FSLTL, and no problems.

FSLTL gave update errors so cancelled the update download for the DB. After latest MSFS update have seen lot of long pauses, and approach added to FP didn't load properly.
