super annoyed that NV force installed the App.

No it didn't.  I'm guessing you chose 'express install', rather than the option to choose what to install

  • I recommend using NVCleanstall. With this app you can choose which components to install and which not. You can get rid of all unnecessary parts of the package, especially the NVidia app. Here's a sho

  • NVCleaninstall did a great job.  This is the second time I've used it and it alerts me to new drivers on my desktop  and installs them flawlessly.  Thanks to Ray Proudfoot for recommending this method

  • They don't seem to be getting positive feedback and the critical black screen bug has not been fixed either.  Looks like most are advising to give these a miss.

The latest nvidia inspector 2-4-0-8-18 doesn't have those options, or they've been renamed.

2.4.0.19 is now the latest version of nvidia profile inspector. In my example I am using 2.4.0.9 which is earlier.

the available versions are here:

https://github.com/Orbmu2k/nvidiaProfileInspector/releases

5800X3D, RTX4070, 600 Watt, one or two 1440p 32" screens, 64 GB RAM, 4 TB  PCle 3 NVMe, Warthog throttle, VKB NXT EVO stick, Honeycomb Alpha yoke, CH quad, 3 Logitech panels, 2 StreamDecks, Desktop Aviator Trim Panel. Crystal Light VR.

The way to check that you have DLSS 4 (which is step one) and also that you have your chosen preset, such as preset K (which is step two):
Create a certain.reg file and click it once. It will change your registry to display an indication text whenever you boot up a DX sim, such as msfs 2020 or msfs 2024. Text will show dlss version and preset letter.

Create another special .reg file to change the registry to not show that text.

One click: display text on. Another click display text off. You do have to restart msfs to get that change.

Almost any program or app that you install changes the registry. An .reg file also changes the registry in much the same way.

.reg files are created by using windows notepad to enter text into a blank .txt file, and then saving that .txt file as a .reg file (instead of as a .txt file).

Text in a .reg file to display text:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NGXCore]
"ShowDlssIndicator"=dword:00000400

Text in a .reg file to not display text:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\NVIDIA Corporation\Global\NGXCore]
"ShowDlssIndicator"=dword:00000000

One click, boot up msfs 2020 or 2024, and then you know the dlss version and the preset letter being used.

No, I chose the clean install option and there was no checkbox for the app. Only the usual main driver, audio driver and phys x or whatever it is called. I selected ONLY the main driver and the audio driver and got the app for free. 😡

Should have chosen 'custom' option if you want to choose I think. Unless they have recently changed it that you get the app!

Had to revert to 572.70, was getting random black screens even when browsing the internet. Never had this problem with any other driver.

I'll repeat that these are specific to 5080+ GPU.

It's easy to pass on something you don't need.

Well, I needed to check if Nvidia fixed the ability to use filters with FG enabled with this driver. As they didn't, I have no problem going back.

Im using K on the latest drivers in 2024 and followed all the steps from SimIslandPilots video, howevert here is still some ghosting in the day, but at night, WOW, the ghosting is horrible, I can pan teh aircraft external via around and there is like 10 other ghost planes around me when panning around the plane. Really really bad. Im also on the latest DLSS file and frame gen file via DLSS Swapper.

I'm getting this with my 4080.  It's a right pain.  Seems to happen just when you don't need it.  :rolleyes:

Sometimes comes back after 10-15 seconds, but on two occasions it did not.

On one occasion where it didn't, cutting power to the monitor then turning it back on brought the screen back without having to reboot.
