Paul, maybe as you mention it's something server-related. By the way, do you have a Nvidia card?, which graphics driver are you currently using?. It looks like recent drivers are causing issues to people wanting to use the very latest ones (something it's being mentioned in the post you linked from the official forums, and thanks for that).

My rule number one, if you have a driver that works fine, don't fix it. Rule number two, don't mess with new drivers.

Mine is probably older than me, and it works very well. Fully agree.

I lost frame generation  after update 2020 with autofps app. 2024 is working well with frame generation.

May be time for me to reload 2024 and see where it's at

Normally I totally agree with you guys but with DLSS4 and a 4090 card I wanted to get on the 572.xx code train however I am on one of the earlier builds prior to the black screen issues so for now I am holding station until I hear of some defined improvement from Nvidia.  Thanks for the suggestion @edpatino!!  Plenty of Nvidia driver and app issues lately!

So I had a 2020 update today, now when i launch the game it just crashes with no error before it gets to the main menu, tried a repair, signing out of the ms store, xbox app etc etc. Nothing works. Anyone else? Any suggestions?

No problems here; it's working perfectly. I'm running the Frame Gen mod, AutoFPS and Lossless Scaling and get 100+ fps on a 3060 @2k with the very latest Nvidia driver.

So what is interesting and what I did last night was look at the official community folder and sort by date added.  Then you can actually see what was modified (at least in the official community folder) and actually just remove modified folders.  I removed the Brazil update files and the latest update from 2 days ago.   I didn't delete them, I just created a new folder and parked them there temporarily to make sure I wasn't breaking anything in the process and the sim indeed recognized they were removed...

So frustrating Ron I can empathize!

After the update the next flight attempt crashed the sim.  I rebooted my system, then restarted the sim and the next flight (and those that followed) have been fine.

You can revert back and reinstall the Brazil update. It ran very well on my system, even in Rio, where the more dense photogrammetry is a bit heavy (in general).

I've had no chance of running MSFS2020 during the last three days due to lack of time, but I'll try today, and have to thank you Paul and all those who reported the anomalies in this sometimes "difficult" forum, but otherwise and most of the time very helpful.

Nice flights!

What’s event viewer saying about the crash?

Also, is it crashing during the loading screens or when you reach the menu etc?

Seems like  Asobo has a major problem with their mandatory updates wreaking havoc and some people's set ups.

About two weeks ago I started a thread on the sudden CTDs that happened where I was getting multiple CTDs daily.  Prior to that 2 CTDs in around 3500 hours. First thing I did was uninstall the recent WU for Brazil. Didn't fix it, then I undid the FSLTL update, seemed OK for awhile, but then it started giving me a CTD when I started a flight, the first time. There was something else I rolled back, can't remember now what it was.  Again, seemed OK for a day or so, then I noticed that whenever I restarted my PC, the first launch of MSFS, and it I got a CTD. Second start, was OK. I could easilt duplicate this, restart PC, CTD on first flight then OK.  A few days ago, there were two updates from Asobo, one said it was for the C 172, and I can't remember the other.

Guess what, after the last two updates, my problem is totally gone.. I can restart PC, start flight, without any problem at all. Since then I have done about 20+ of these cycles.  I am convinced that they had inserted a bug somewhere along the line of recent updates, and the last two updates, one of them fixed the bug.
