I was genuinely interested in this 737 but clearly see that this is not a viable project. Shame,

It hasn't even been released and you can say that?

Lol And you deduct all that nonsense you're saying from my rig because I don't want to spend money on an integrated GPU I'm never going to use? Do you even know what I'm talking about?

Well, I'll let you continue playing deductions with this addon, it's not out yet and you're already judging it.

You are the one who mentioned integrated graphics so what’s your point?

You dont remember this ?

Yes ok and what about it? Did this make the Fenix a bad release? I’m still not sure what your point is.

By all accounts and from everything I can see, this addon in its current state is pretty much trash.  Sounds like they've postponed release because of feedback, but if it were available now I don't think I'd pay the $5 to try it.  I still don't have a problem with their pricing model, but the plane itself doesn't sound like it's worth a try now.  I hope they can get it into a better state; would be cool to have a classic.

Did you ever fly one of those?

Unfortunately if they can say whatever they want.... It's sad to see how they lynch a product that they have neither tested nor seen serious and objective reviews....

Classics?  -400s for several years, yeah.  Was a pretty good SE Alaska airplane, but the combis were pretty inefficient since the bulkhead wasn't adjustable the way it was in the -200.  My first landing in JNU was in a -400 on new hire OE, on the taxiway (yes intentionally; it was serving as a temp runway while the real runway was being re-surfaced).  Fun airplane to fly but definitely not as friendly or comfortable as the NG.  Ergonomics was not really a thing when that cockpit was designed 😁.

That's kinda the problem: even the highly biased reviews have shown that this thing lacks basic capabilities.  I personally won't be paying $5 to try what I've seen showcased so far.  It would be nice to think their release delay means they'll fix the deficiencies, but it's hard to shake the feeling that if they honestly thought this thing in its current state could be passed off as high fidelity, they may not even know what they don't know.

Piecing things together I believe these guys have experience building real-world simulators (Level D?) for commercial clients, including one for a 737CL.

I believe their thinking was hey, why don't we slap a 3D model on this and put it out as a MSFS add-on. So I don't doubt they have the programming knowledge to make deep systems, but it does seem they were rather naive or unfamiliar with this market and what it takes outside of just modelling systems to do it.

Case in point - bugs might be okay in a commercial setting in that you're making sure the thing runs in a very controlled environment but not when you put it out to a multitude of people.

To be fair to them - they do listen to criticism and amend stuff. My hope is that they'll evolve and become another name in flight simming. The more the merrier.

Feedback can be given verbally and non verbally without being toxic.

Most of the people who whine in these very forums NEVER post a bug report.

2020 release wasn't pretty either, but it was so different from what we had that almost everyone was willing to give it a shot.

2024 is actually quite different from 20, but not as different as the FSX->2020 gap so people just expect a sim that models the entire world to be perfect apparently.

It's the systems modeling I've seen of this that concerns me.  I'm not much interested in things like exterior model or texture quality.  But there were significant simplifications and missing capabilities in the systems and avionics we've seen of this thing.  If their background is commercial simulation, that seems it could mean an even worse thing: not that they were lacking knowledge, but that they knew how the plane actually works but chose to dumb it down anyway.

Yes I meant Classics and thanks for the info.  I didn't realize there were -400 Combis.  I knew there were -200's set up that way but not Classics.  So neat.   I wish this add-on had Combi modelled, maybe it will, eventually.

Also that's great info about JNU ops.  That makes sense, only the one runway at JNU, I believe.  Either let them land on the taxiway or close the airport for a week or more, and the latter probably isn't a good option.

  • 2 weeks later...

After the original release being delayed/cancelled. It is releasing today!

From their Discord:

Quote

It's been a long and difficult two weeks and I'm back with news.

The most important news: The release of CSS 735 for MSFS2020 will take place today (30.05.2025)  at 17:00 UTC!

The launcher will be available for download right here and on our website (www.css.aero)

Before the release (approximately at 16:00 UTC), everyone who had them installed BEFORE the release will see the updates in their Launchers. All liveries that we indicated in our unknown will be available for download.

We also worked on the issues, adjusted the operation of VNAV and AT, aircraft dynamics, added new cockpit textures and many other useful little things.

Paint-kit will be available within a few days.

You can update the navigation database via Navigraph Hub. Also, the model comes with a config file for GSX (installed automatically).

Not all the features that we announced are available in the release version yet. For example, there is no failure system and the cockpit can only be launched from the C&D state.

Please read the documentation for the aircraft carefully. This will help you operate it correctly. 737CL and 737NG have significant differences!

Also, do not forget to turn off your anti-virus during installation! It may "swear" at third-party launchers!

If you have problems with registration, check the "Spam" folder in your mail. If this does not help, you can always write to us at the mailbox support (AT) css.aero

Technical support for the product is provided through Launcher, not through this Discord channel!
