June 10, 2025Jun 10 Author I want to come back to this thread I started to give an update: Let me start by saying first that: 1) I have the Steam version of the sim. 2) I am running the SU3 Beta. 3) I only have one gaming computer so I don't run the sim on multiple computers. 4) Prior to doing any of this, while I was creating the profiles, I exported each profile as soon as it was created so I would have a copy saved on my computer. I have spent hours reading dozens of threads and articles about these profile problems. I decided to try this (given the above parameters): 1) I deleted all the previously saved data from my machine (D:\Steam\userdata\1127623913\2537590) (adjust for your machine). Delete the 2537590 folder completely. 2) Go to the Steam app, Select Settings, Select Cloud, and turn off Enable Steam Cloud. I realize you may be using Steam for other apps that require the cloud but in my case I do not require the cloud for any of my Steam apps. I have plenty of backed up storage to save files on my local machine. 3) Bring up the sim and go to the Controls section. 4) For each place you need your customized profile, use the Import function and import the required profile (remember for this to work you have to have already exported your profiles to your local computer (I just created a folder for profiles). In my case, with Steam Cloud turned off, the previous 2537590 folder deleted, and the profiles all imported from my saved files, everything is working perfectly. I have done numerous reboots of the sim and in every case, every profile shows up exactly where it is supposed to be. One disclaimer: I have not manipulated any new profiles that were not originally exported before conducting these activities. I will do some more testing and will report back with any new findings. nBut at least for all the profiles I had already created and exported, this process seems to enable the sim to work exactly as it is supposed to. I hope I won't have to go through this process every time I create a new process, but even if I do, for now, at least it's a work-around that for me at least seems to be working perfectly. I hope maybe this might help someone else. P.S. I am also going to test whether, once you have all of this set up, you can go back to cloud saves by re-enabling the Enable Steam Cloud setting in the Steam app Edited June 10, 2025Jun 10 by Rob G Additional info Case: (Lian Li PC-011 Dynamic XL), PSU: (MEG Ai300p pcie 5 & ATX 3.0), Motherboard: (ASUS TUF Gaming x670E-PLUS WIFI 6E), CPU: (AMD Ryzen 7 7800-X3D) Memory: (G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO RGB Series 64GB DDR5 6000), GPU: (Zotac Gaming GeForce RTX 4090 AMP Extreme Airo). This is with MSFS 2024/MSStore/SU2. Not a good sign, when you answer your own posts (!!) ... BUT ... I finally manged to clear all my redundant profiles using this excellent utility: https://flightsim.to/file/81388/msfs-control-profile-backuptool I was a bit hesitant at first, in case I made a hash of it and just made things worse but, thank goodness, it worked like a treat 🙂
June 20, 2025Jun 20 Author You can back up controller profiles using the built-in setting for each profile. Just click the settings icon by each profile name and select export. All of mine are backed up that way.
