Updates for Su3 beta are they happening?

Featured Replies

When I was in beta for SU2 I noticed there were quite a number of smaller and bigger beta updates. So far I haven’t seen any for SU3. Is that right that there hasn’t been much on that front so far?

AMD 5830X

Nvidia RTX 3060

Win 11

it has been almost 16 days since last update, I guess they should be waiting for Nvidia to release another driver or I don't know what...The stutter bug at landing is really annoying as well as the controller setup issues.

Ramon De Valencia

AMD 9950X3D / 64GB DDR5 6000MHz / RTX 5090 / 1200 watt PSU

MSFS 2020 and 2024

My theory is that they are deep in the VRAM bug, or at least are doing a big push on solving as many performance issues as possible. This is meant to be a performance patch and a big stab at a lot of the issues people have been having related to it. Makes sense that they'd make sure there's something substantial to test on that front, and makes sense that it wouldn't be something you'd just be able to push out in a few days / week.

My guess is they had to divert resources to 2020 SU16 for a few weeks and we’re now into the summer holiday season.

Summer holiday season for Asobo is August....most of August that is🙃.

Thanks for posting! I didn’t see in the Release Notes anything about fixing the Drone Camera or fixing issues when updating downloaded content.

Just a heads up, as mentioned in the notes, this build will have serve performance issues at large airports.

It’s getting worse 😂 aren’t things supposed to be getting better with newer builds.

It’s temporary because of the extra profiling tools they are running in the background. Won’t affect the release version.

According to the notes, that tool they have running should not have any impact on performance… that’s what the notes say.

Jorg, Seb, Martial, and Jane at the very next unholiday in France:

I find the opposite:

---

Multiple active investigations are in progress for the performance issues reported on Sim Update 3, but we need your help!

We’re continuing to narrow down cause of the performance issues, and have added additional telemetry to the latest SU3 flighting update (1.5.7.0) to aid our investigation.  Please note 1.5.7.0 will cause severe performance degradation around large airports and when restarting flights (most severe on Xbox Series X|S)  . However, the data and feedback you provide is critical to solving these issues.

Just on top of “Stability and performance”

Please note that build 1.5.7.0 includes a stability tracker which should have no noticeable impact on performance. If/when you notice too much VRAM being used, please complete the following steps:

  • Take a screenshot with DFPS enabled
  • Send the report to the developers by navigating to Options > General > Experimental > Create a report

I think that message there is either a typo or an accidental copy/paste.

There’s precedent for the whole performance tracker tanking performance thing - they did the same thing with SU2 beta and it indeed reduced performance for a time.
