Had high hopes but the FsLabs A321 neo is a mess

Featured Replies

I have 3000+ real world hours flying the A319/A320 and 5000+ hours on the A330, so I think I know the airbus pretty well. I have no experience flying the 321 CEO/NEO but if I have to choose between Fenix and FSL, I'd pick FSL .. don't ask me why but the FSL feels more like the real deal. Not a scientific observation by any means but a very objective personal pick. Just my two cents. GSX is a bit of a hit and miss, but flying wise I prefer FSL.

For what it's worth,

  • Did you even read the manual?

  • It should really be put this way.  There are CEO Basic and CEO Enhanced aircraft.  All NEO are enhanced aircraft and come with sharklets.  The Basic original A320 family had CRT's for the displays. Th

The real pilots I know are exactly the same as you, they all prefer FSlabs.

That's probably because they simulate ACARS more completely and have maintenance modeled and the MCDU not miss steps the real thing has like the one from Fenix that still can't properly insert waypoints after the runway or store pilot routes for review of the flightplan.

So that all contributes to the feeling that you are doing exactly what you are doing in real life when you operate a flight, while Fenix misses many of these steps.

That being said from what I saw I think the Fenix looks and flies better.

I haven't watched most of it, but V1 is streaming a head to head.

He did a stream yesterday. He said it is missing basic things like ETP which Fenix has, he tried to do a hold yesterday its still bugged from P3D missing ecam alerts on a failure he did. Sounds need working on. I think he said he felt the flight model in the Fenix felt better besides the flare. Overall he felt Fenix was still ahead.

I dunno why it always descends into this is better than that or my friends sister's cousin flies this and says blah.

Two great addons. Enjoy one, or the other, or both. It's a simulated airplane, not real world. 95% of us will never know what it's like to fly one in the real world. So enjoy them for what they are.

We've come a long way since the early days. Let's not forget that.

Because two developers decided to do the same aircraft and compete.

Fenix haven't released a NEO yet.

This thread had nothing to do with Fenix.

In this case, I was more pointing out the first half of the stream has more flight examples than the usual "takeoff, cruise, land" a lot of streamers have. He did a bunch of things to see how it reacts compared to his RW A21n experience.

You do know that the only difference between the CEO and the NEO is the engine?

They aren't the only differences.

According to V1's very lengthy test video the Fenix wins out on every normal operations test except for the battery test on initial load in and the brake temperature simulation. I'm interested in seeing how his abnormal procedures comparison turns out. That's one area FSLabs does enjoy to dig deep into. (As evident by their tail strike simulation).

Take-offs are optional, landings are mandatory.
The only time you have too much fuel is when you're on fire.
To make a small fortune in aviation you must start with a large fortune.

There's nothing less important than the runway behind you and the altitude above you.
It's better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air, than in the air wishing you were on the ground.

Isn’t he a beta tester for Fenix and always quite biased in favor of them? Just to put this into perspective.

I'm not sure how active he is in the beta program, if at all these days. He had a couple of NDA oopses on stream. That said, whenever says something negative about something it becomes "it's bias".

I have found V1 overal fair when regarding the Fenix. He did have a lot to say about the pre-B1 performance of the Fenix that was not completely glowing, especially with the flare and ground effect.

He also did a head to head with the Fenix and Tolis and was fair in his grading.

In this case, I only caught bits of it but I don't think he set the FSL version to fail.

Also, I don't really have a dog in this race. I am a fan of the Fenix and do not own the FSL 21n. However, once they release the PWs and hopefully a performance patch to address things I will likely revisit this. More so on the PWs. It's not related, but Fenix's "in a couple of weeks" has really soured me on any devs estimates.
