• New setting to disable mouse wheel zoom separately for external and internal views (Settings -> Accessibility). Additionally, you can now assign a modifier key: this means zooming will only work while holding that key, helping to prevent accidental zooming during regular mouse use.

Technical Notes

Linux

• Fixed an issue when using the Steam installation of X-Plane on Linux, when Steam was installed using a snap package. Please note, that snap installations are not supported by Valve (XPD-16840

This "Disable mouse wheel zoom"

Took them long enough, Good grief...

Now, they need to implement fine adjustments using the mouse scroll wheel.  

Also, more fine adjustments to the Graphics Settings like we use to have before, hahaha!

I don't get the hate for mouse wheel zoom. I've probably just learned to live with the occasional failed manipulator adjustmment scroll.

Because the scroll wheel is also used to adjust the knobs in the avionics systems. If you are slightly off, and or if you are flying in turbulence, then it becomes a nightmare trying to dial in a simple frequency, etc...

My guess is someone important raged a bit at constantly accidentally zooming while using Austins new physics based camera in turbulance.

Or when we pass our youthful years, become less twitchy and have less precision with the mouse 🤣

I forget who it was but I remember someone saying it wasn't going to get fixed because "in turbulence, it's difficult to manipulate knobs and switches in real life too". Thankfully they have seen sense 😂

I presume your explanation was for the benefit of readers unfamiliar with X-Plane. If it was not, consider me offended for assuming I did not know all that.

 

Mouse wheel in turbulence isn't a nightmare anymore. Not after having experienced VR with a controller, which requires you to physically rotate your wrist to tune a knob all while remaining pointed at the manipulator. Try that in turbulence.

Anyone know if the FlightFactor planes work in the current Beta? Specifically the 777 v2.

The 777v2 does work fine.

most likely, but then I decided it could also have been those testing the weather radar. "its later than you wanted because we wasted so much testing time dealing with the stupid mouse wheel zoom".
